Liddel’s interest towards basketball started in his high school days at Belleville High School-West. His coach and the other team players were shocked at seeing his passes and shoots. At the end of his junior season, Liddell averaged 20.8 points with 8.2 rebounds per game. To average 20-plus in a season is still a dream for many players. His form continued to his senior season, as he averaged 20.2 points with 9.3 rebounds per game. At the end of his high school career, Liddell received various scholarship offers from colleges.
But he decided to join Ohio University over the offers from other colleges. It was not the start Liddell was expecting, as he averaged just 6.7 points with 3.8 rebounds per game in his freshman year. After completing his junior season with Ohio, Liddell decided to enter the 2022 NBA draft and skipped his last year of college.
With a surprise, Liddell was picked by the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2nd round of the 2022 NBA draft.
