Maurizio Sarri must aim to finish his transfer business as swiftly as possible. The transfer window shuts on August 9th this time, which leaves the Italian with minimal time to complete his shopping.

According to The Sun, Chelsea have been linked with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic. The £54million-rated man is also wanted by Jose Mourinho at Manchester United (h/t The Sun). But the Croatian might not be the ideal fit for the Portuguese manager’s pragmatic style of deploying his teams. As a result, it would be far better for the midfielder to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues should make other transfers as well before the window shuts, given their lack of signings this summer. Chelsea have only signed the likes of Jorginho and Robert Green so far. With at least one more transfer, Sarri would be able to field a strong starting XI for the opening game against Huddersfield Town.

Here we take a look at the potential XI Sarri could field including Kovacic and the team’s latest transfer targets-

Chelsea Dream XI

Manager: Maurizio Sarri

Formation: 3-4-3

Thibaut Courtois (GK)

Courtois will certainly be Sarri’s main man between the sticks. He enjoyed a superb spell with Belgium at the World Cup, winning the Golden Glove award and he should replicate that form for Chelsea.

Antonio Rudiger (LCB)

The German took his time to settle into the squad but he eventually proved fruitful. The centre-back could become one of the main men in the defence this season.

Gary Cahill (CB)

Christensen was impressive last season but Cahill could be the go-to man for Sarri this time.

Cesar Azpilicueta (RCB)

The Spaniard has been the Blues’ most consistent defender over the years. He will surely play a crucial role for Sarri, given his potential to produce in the attack as well.

Marcus Alonso (LWB)

At one point, Alonso seemed like Chelsea’s main threat going forward. His ability to surge forward and his set-piece prowess makes him an enticing option.

Mateo Kovacic (CM)

The Croatian often sits in the middle of the park, pulling the strings for the attack. His distribution will prove crucial for the Blues.

N’Golo Kante (CM)

Chelsea’s most able deputy in the midfield, Kante has undoubtedly been in scintillating form since he broke into the Premier League. The World Cup winner will certainly play a huge role in Sarri’s high-intensity football.

Victor Moses (RWB)

His runs down the wing were essential in Chelsea’s forward surges last season. His ability to whip in dangerous crosses makes him an important player at the club.

Eden Hazard (LW)

Hazard will surely be their main threat in the attack. The Belgian has been one of the best players across Europe over the last few seasons. His ability on the ball is unparalleled and the attacker could hit new heights under Sarri.

Alvaro Morata (ST)

Morata didn’t enjoy the most productive of seasons but it wasn’t the worst either. The Spaniard has now gotten a taste of the Premier League and he could come back stronger this time.

Anthony Martial (RW)

The Frenchman has emerged as a late transfer target for the Blues. If Willian goes the other way, then Martial could occupy his role in the right flank. (Express Sport)
