Disco Elysium is a completely different kind of role playing game. In most games, you are tasked with completing the objective with your weapons, hacking and slashing your way through the monsters.
But in Disco Elysium, you play as a detective in a dystopian future. You take the role of an amnesiac detective who is in charge of solving a murder mystery.
This non-traditional game format with no action was doubted by critics at first. But the variety of skills and dialogue options make the game extremely interesting. There are 24 different skills that represent different aspects of the protagonist. You can even change his perception and pain threshold level. The game is based on a tabletop game created by the same developer.
The game was praised for its distinctive oil painting art style and music. The story is written by an Estonian novelist Robert Kurvitz. Disco Elysium has been given the award for Game of the Year 2020. It has a rating of 91% on Metacritic. In June 2020 they announced that a television series on the game is under development.
Nintendo Switch Release Date
Disco Elysium was released on Windows in October 2019. The Final Cut version was released in March 2021. The game was officially released for Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and Stadia. The PC version got a free update. The game is also releasing for the Nintendo Switch this summer. The studio hasn’t announced a fixed date as of yet but we will get it soon.
Disco Elysium Age Rating for consoles
The game will be rated for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The game is rated 18+. This is after an appeal made by the developers. Previously, the game was refused classification making it illegal to sell. After reconsideration, they have made it 18+. The game will have descriptions provided that will warn buyers about the violence, drug use, strong language, references to suicide, and more present in the game.
The game is an absolute masterpiece that every person must try once. It has an amazing art style with a deep political supernatural detective storyline. The game will release for the Nintendo Switch this Summer.
