Chelsea Opinion: Blues must look to sign Lorenzo Insigne in the summer

According to a recent report from The Sun, Liverpool and Chelsea are both said to lining up moves for Napoli’s Italian left-winger Lorenzo Insigne. The player recently came out in front of the media and publicly announced that if a good offer does arrive for his services from the Premier League, he could be tempted to take it in the summer.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea have been tracking the Italian’s progress at Napoli for a while now. This summer could provide these English giants with the ideal opportunity to lure this talented winger to their respective clubs.

It is also claimed that Napoli are more than desperate to hold onto their man despite his admittance. Still only 27, this could the right time for him to think about making the next step in his career as well.

One of the major claims in the Chelsea are lining up a possible bid for the Italian in the wake of their transfer ban being put up for appeal. With the possibility of signing players in the summer still open for the Blues, it’s only logical that they’re planning ahead by identifying possible summer targets.

This summer could prove to be a very important one for the men from Stamford Bridge. Maurizio Sarri wasn’t given nearly enough time to try his hand in the transfer market ahead of the start of last season because of the long-drawn saga that saw Chelsea struggle to release Antonio Conte from the position of manager.

Sarri could be tempted to move for the Napoli man given that they have worked together in the past. He has proven during him time with the manager than they can have a good working relationship and this can be backed up by his rather impressive numbers which read 47 goals and 38 assists from 139 games.

This season too, Insigne has pitched in well with 9 goals and a further 6 assists from his usual position on the left flank. A product of the Napoli youth academy, Insigne has never left his boyhood clubs and a move this summer could be the right push he needs to take his career to the next level.

His pace and precision on the ball will be a massive asset to the Blues and his ability to operate as the main striker when necessary will be yet another boost for Sarri, who has struggled this season.

An excellent finisher and an overall team player is just that kind of man that this Chelsea side is lacking and Lorenzo Insigne has all the right attributes to come in and do a job on the flanks for Chelsea and that’s why the Blues must make him their summer transfer priority.
