Premier League Opinion: Here’s a combined Liverpool vs Tottenham XI

Liverpool and Tottenham have been two of the Premier League’s standout clubs over the years and despite all their best efforts, the English league title is something that has eluded these sides for quite a while now. Despite the lack of league success, they’ve both managed to reach the final of the biggest club competition in the world this season.

With the two English clubs set to face off against each other at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in few days time, it is guaranteed that the UEFA Champions League trophy is coming back to England with only the city where it ends up yet to be decided. While both teams boast a wide array of excellent footballing talents, this fixture could be decided based simply on wants it more on the night.

Here’s our combined XI featuring players from both Liverpool and Tottenham:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK – Allison Becker

The Brazilian has done a fantastic job since moving from Roma and he even managed to win the Golden Glove during his first season in England.

RB – Trent Alexander Arnold

The Englishman has been one of the shining young stars of the Premier League season and his place in this side was never really under much scrutiny.

CB – Virgil Van Dijk

The PFA Player of the Year award winner is effectively guaranteed a spot in this line-up but his performances over the campaign have certainly warranted this.

CB – Jan Vertonghen

The Belgian international has been the one constant in what has been an ever-changing Spurs back-line this season and he’s done a fine job as well.

LB – Andy Robertson

The Scottish international full-back has arguably been the Reds’ best player this season as he’s burst onto the first-team picture and looks set to stay there.

CM – Christian Eriksen

The Danish midfielder played an integral role in ensuring that Spurs were able to achieve Champions League qualification despite all the worrying injuries.

CM – Georginio Wijnaldum

The Dutchman was absolutely spectacular in the Reds’ semi-final encounter against Barcelona and he even scored a key goal on the night.

RM – Sadio Mane

The Senegalese winger had his most productive Premier League season ever and even scored enough goals to earn a share of the golden boot.

CAM – Son Heung Min

The South Korean winger has been utilised in a multitude of forward positions by Mauricio Pochettino this season and he’s been effective everywhere.

LM – Mohamed Salah

Last season’s Puskas award winner Salah had another amazing Premier League season and his goals were vital on their road to he final in Madrid.
