According to a recent report from the Daily Star, Celtic are lining up a summer move for potential free-agent Bahlul Mustafazada, who currently plies his trade for FK Qabala in the Azerbaijani Premyer Liqasi as the first-choice centre-half.

The Azerbaijan youth international has impressed heavily this season and the report is suggesting that Celtic have been urged to sign the youngster on a permanent deal in the summer, as he is touted to reach massive heights.

Still only 22, the centre-half has played in 21 league games for his club Qabala this season and he’s shown his quality on more than one occasion. He’s even featured in the Europa League qualifiers for Qabala, although they didn’t progress past the first round of the competition.

He is a mobile centre-half, who is capable of putting himself about. Although he is physically strong, he does well to position himself in the right places. He has an understanding of the ball and seems to be able to read play well and his tackling is one of his standout skills too.

Mustafazada’s contract with Qabala is set to expire at the end of the current season, meaning that he could be available for free if Celtic play their cards right. He has played 24 times in all competitions and certainly isn’t far from a call-up to the Azerbaijan national side.

Having developed at the Qabala academy, he spent multiple loan spells at Azerbaijani club Sumgayit before he eventually made a name for himself. The youngster is largely still an unknown quantity but his talent justifies Celtic’s interest.

According to a recent report from The Scottish Daily Record, Belgian centre-half Dedryck Boyata is nearing an exit from Celtic, as he ponders over a potential move to Hertha Berlin next season. It is suggested that he has already agreed on personal terms with the club, having almost definitely played his last game in a Celtic shirt.

With Boyata’s departure now imminent, it’s essential for Celtic to replace him in the summer if they plan on beating Rangers out to yet another league title. Mustafazada has the perfect attributes to slog right into this already stacked Celtic side.
