Two players Burnley could sign to avoid relegation this season
Burnley were the dark horses last season, picking up big scalps along the way. They beat Chelsea in their opening game and drew against Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and a few other sides. They won hearts along the way to a seventh-place finish and many expected big things after a Europa League qualifying spot.
However, this season hasn’t been the best for both Sean Dyche and Burnley with them sitting a mere two points off rock bottom in the relegation zone, needing a miracle to survive. But if there is any team in the league that can recover mid-season, it would be Burnley. To do that, they need to bring in reinforcements and here are two players who can make a difference.
#2 Leandro Trossard
The 24-year-old has been in fine form for the Belgian side KRC Genk, finding the net on more than one occasion this season and thus that makes him a brilliant target for Burnley. The Clarets need a winger, especially with Aaron Lenon pushing the wrong side of 30, and Robbie Brady struggling to make an impact at all.
However, Trossard has made 26 appearances this season scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists. That combined with his versatility and age makes him a great long-term target.
While questions do arise as to whether or not the Belgian international can cope with the Premier League, that’s something that only time will tell.
#1 Christoph Kramer
A world cup winner, Kramer’s career hasn’t exactly gone to plan since the 2014 World Cup with Germany. While he’s still only 27 years old, Kramer’s abilities as a defensive midfielder and passing range make him exactly the kind of player that Sean Dyche needs in the near future.
That combined with the fact that he’s made only five appearances this season, simply adds to Burnley’s chances at any potential move. While injuries do explain his lack of appearances this season, the 27-year-old is still a class.
While Sean Dyche and company may be looking to strengthen other areas in the January window, bringing in someone like Kramer does improve their chances of ending this season still in the Premier League.
