BT Sport rebrand: Why are television giants BT Sport rebranding their franchise name to TNT Sports? Learn all there is to know.
BT Sport is set to be replaced by TNT Sports next season, with a new broadcaster showing live Premier League matches for the first time in a decade. The name change comes after BT Sport was acquired by Warner Brothers Discovery, who also own Eurosport, in a deal with up to £650m.
The merger sees TNT Sports take over BT Sport’s existing portfolio, which includes two seasons of Premier League football and four years of Champions League rights, as well as Premiership Rugby and UFC.
BT Sport have shown Premier League games since 2013, with the broadcaster televising 52 games this season as part of the current rights deal that runs until 2025. The TNT Sports name will replace BT Sport on TV listings from July, with Eurosport remaining as a standalone brand until after the 2024 Olympics.
“Today is another important step towards the launch of a simpler and even more compelling offering for sports fans in the U.K & Ireland,” said Warner Bros Discovery Sport managing director Andrew Georgiou, who also confirmed that the broadcaster will compete in the next auction for Premier League TV rights.

Warner Bros Discovery Sports Europe president and managing director, Andrew Georgiou, said: “The TNT Sports name is already synonymous with premium live sport in a number of countries around the world and a further sign of the global scale and expertise that Warner Bros Discovery brings to its partnership with BT.” The merger is intended to allow BT Sport to become more efficient and offer a more premium product.
