Crystal Palace player ratings vs Manchester United
Crystal Palace salvaged a point at Old Trafford for the first time since 1989 as the Eagles put in a resilient display to hold Manchester United to a 0-0 draw on Saturday.
Patrick van Aanholt had a golden chance to put the visitors in the driver’s seat in the first half but couldn’t manage to find the perfect finish.
United could have drawn first blood through Jesse Lingard but his effort from close range was saved brilliantly by Wayne Hennessey.
Palace had a few other chances to take the lead but David de Gea’s heroics between the sticks denied the visitors.
Both the teams had plenty of chances to break the deadlock and United almost sealed it in the second half through Romelu Lukaku’s gliding header, only to be denied once again by a diving Hennessey.
Roy Hodgson’s men have every reason to be pleased with their performance but the Red Devils should be disappointed with the goalless draw, losing further ground on Manchester City at the top of the table.

1. Wayne Hennessey (8/10)
The Welshman put in a brilliant shift between the sticks to deny Jesse Lingard from close range in the first half and his diving save to keep out Lukaku’s header in the second half was simply world-class.
2. Aaron Wan-Bissaka (7/10)
Another impressive performance by the England U21 international. Dealt reasonably well with the threat of Martial and a put up a solid display at the back.
3. James Tomkins (8/10)
The Englishman has been good all season and put in another solid shift in the heart of the defence for the Eagles, making some crucial challenges and interceptions.
4. Mamadou Sakho (7/10)
He looked sloppy in possession at times but dealt quite well with whatever that United threw at him.
5. Patrick van Aanholt (6.5/10)
He should have scored in the first half after being played in by Zaha but failed to take his chance; solid display at the back.
6. Luka Milivojevic (5/10)
Not a good display from the captain as he was booked for a cynical challenge on Jesse Lingard. Didn’t look comfortable with the ball at his feet and squandered possession at times.
7. Cheikhou Kouyate (7/10)
His headed goal was flagged offside in the first half and got himself into promising positions in the attacking third but lacked the finishing; did a much better job defensively and looked assured in possession.
8. James McArthur (6/10)
The Scotsman excelled with his work rate and combined with Kouyate to get the better of Matic and company in the midfield.
9. Max Meyer (6.5/10)
The German worked hard in attack and defence and showed some nice touches but he doesn’t quite look the player he was back in his days at Schalke.
10. Andros Townsend (6.5/10)
He put in the hard yards and linked up very well with Zaha up front; arguably had the best chance in the second half as he powered his way through the defence but couldn’t find the finish.
11. Wilfried Zaha (7/10)
The Ivorian was a constant threat in the attacking third with his pace and guile and did not hesitate to take on the defenders. Set up van Aanholt in the first-half but the Dutchman couldn’t find the finish.
