Why Rodolfo Pizarro would be a brilliant fit for Chris Hughton’s Brighton?

Brighton were on a dismal run before their 1-0 victory over relegation-threatened Huddersfield Town last weekend. The Albion had won just once in the last 10 games but thanks to Florin Andone’s only goal on Saturday that gave the hosts’ all three points and relieved some pressure off Chris Hughton’s shoulders.

Hughton’s Brighton are 15th in the table, just five points above the relegation zone. With 10 games left, they need to get past the 40-point mark as quickly as possible to secure their Premier League status. The Seagulls have been ordinary in every area of the pitch which is sure to worry Hughton.

Dale Stephens has established himself as a regular starter in midfield under Hughton, alongside Davy Propper. In terms of creativity, Anthony Knockaert could be the only one to come out with some credit. The likes of Pascal Gross, Solly March, Yves Bissouma or Alireza Jahanbakhsh have all been inconsistent, making the team dull and uninspiring going forward at times.

Therefore, it’s important Hughton adds a creative playmaker to his squad this summer and he should take a look at Monterrey star Rodolfo Pizarro.

Rodolfo Pizarro joined Monterrey from fellow Mexican side Chivas last summer and hasn’t disappointed in his first season at BBVA Bancomer Stadium. He has managed three goals and two assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.

A classy operator of the ball, Pizarro can pick a pass, unlock tightest of defences and has the guile to operate as a no.10. The Mexican star can spark creativity from midfield and add more fluency to Brighton’s build-up play in the final third. He is tenacious and hard-working, whilst also possessing the ball retention skills and the intelligence to get into promising goalscoring positions.

Not only that, but the Tampico-born star also has a hammer of a right foot that is capable of delivering rockets from long distances. He has the ability to hold the ball in tightest of situations and his wonderful technique allows him to run comfortably with it. Moreover, Pizarro would thrive in Hughton’s system at the Amex stadium, linking up well with the likes of Knockaert, Gross and Murray.
