Why Cameron Peupion is a good future investment by Brighton
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Brighton & Hove Albion are on the cusp of completing a move for teenager Cameron Peupion from Sydney FC.
The 17-year-old talent, after his eye-catching displays at the U-17 World Cup last year, was offered a chance to do trials with Brighton. The Australian youngster seems to have done enough as the club is in its final stages of negotiations (h/t Sydney Morning Herald).
The attacking midfielder has impressed the Seagulls before even making his A-League debut. He currently plies his trade with Sydney FC’s under-21 side. Meanwhile, Premier League strugglers Brighton are on the lookout for more talents in a bid to strengthen their side in the coming days.
Nothing much has changed at the Amex in the past three seasons with the side just managing to hang in the top-flight by barely escaping relegation. In the seasons prior to this, Brighton finished a lowly 17th and 15th respectively.
Graham Potter’s Seagulls have had a difficult season so far and are just two points adrift of the relegation zone. With the side currently under-performing, Brighton roping in upcoming talents seems like a good move by the South Coast club.
Peupion featured in all four group matches for the Socceroos at the U-17 World Cup last year and was also a member of the side that lost to France in the Round of 16. Predominantly a central midfielder, Peupion is comfortable playing in attack also as he has played on numerous occasions for his national side across the flanks.
In three out of four games in the World Cup group stage, Peupion started in the wings for Australia’s youth side. It is obvious that Peupion would take time to adjust to the new surroundings in England and that he would take time to break into the first-team.
However, having displayed his potential in a mega-event like the World Cup and impressing the Seagulls during the trials, there is no denying that he is a talent, who would be offered chances to perform.
Moreover, manager Potter, is known to offer youth a chance, since his days at Swansea. His arrival at the Amex this season has seen young talents such as Steven Alzate (21) and Aaron Connolly (20) impressing and becoming a big part of his plans. That said, Peupion would also be given chances to make an impression in the future if the move becomes permanent.

Brighton arer surely not among the top clubs financially in England. Considering that and Peupion’s age he seems like a good future investment for the club. Also, his versatility in attack is something that Brighton could use to their advantage.
