Amir Khan, in an interview with TMZ Sports, revealed that he would be going to the Prime Minister, the MP, member of Parliament, and also the Mayor of London to urge them to improve the security levels.

Khan also stressed the significance of deploying more police forces out as it’s not a safe place to live. Khan also mentioned how it was only 7 pm when the incident happened and not at midnight so it’s even more concerning.

“It’s quite regularly happening…I’m going to go at the Prime Minister, the MP, member of Parliament, and also the Mayor of London – what are these people doing. They need to improve their security and maybe get more police forces out there….It’s not a safe place to live.”

Amir has grown up in Manchester. He said he no longer feels safe in one of the world’s most popular cities. Khan also noted that after his incident, there are many more stories going around of similar instances that have occurred in the past.

“I don’t feel safe. I’m in the city of London which is obviously a very well known town and everyone loves London. Now, after I was robbed, you start hearing all the stories or you start reading up on all the robberies that have happened. I mean, it’s quite regularly happening,” Khan said.

What happened on that night?

Amir Khan and his wife Faryal Makhdoom just had dinner together at a restaurant. The boxing star was confronted by two men in East London, Leyton and they took off his expensive watch at gunpoint and fled the scene.

Khan tweeted about the incident and ensured that he and his wife are safe. Khan’s Franck Muller watch was worth a whopping £72,000 and it reportedly had 719 diamonds fitted in.

The couple had immediately reported to the police after the robbery took place. However, as of now, Khan hasn’t heard of any arrests that have been made.

In 2012, Amir Khan was ambushed by an armed gang that reportedly tried to steal his £100,000 Range Rover. Khan held the Commonwealth lightweight title from 2007 to 2008. He also won a gold medal in the Junior Olympic Games in 2003.

Khan has won 34 out of his 40 boxing matches. Out of the 34, he has 21 of them by KO. He is the youngest British Olympic boxing medalist.
