Why Bournemouth should go all out for Ondrej Duda in the summer?

Bournemouth have done an excellent job by tying David Brooks to a new long-term contract.

The Welshman, 21, joined Bournemouth from Sheffield United last summer and has gone onto impressive with his creativity and goal-scoring displays this season. Such has been Brooks’ impact in his debut Premier League season that had Manchester United and Tottenham sit and take notice, reports the Manchester Evening News.

However, the Cherries have ended any speculation whatsoever by securing the young Welsh midfielder’s future. In addition to that, the Eddie Howe-managed club have also sent a signal across the Premier League that they aren’t a selling club and will do everything to keep hold of their prized assets.

David Brooks

Brooks committing his future at the Vitality Stadium would be a huge boost to Howe, whose side have tumbled to 12th in the table after such a promising start to the season. Season-ending injuries to Lewis Cook and Simon Francis have disrupted Bournemouth’s rhythm, while suspensions and niggling injuries to Brooks and Callum Wilson haven’t helped Howe’s side either.

Failure to deal with the injuries points to a lack of squad depth and if Howe is to challenge for a place in Europe next season, he’ll need to have a big group. With Leicester City planning a £40million summer raid for Callum Wilson, as per the Sun, Howe needs to be ready with potential replacements even though he’ll do everything possible to hang onto his star striker.

That said, Bournemouth must target Hertha Berlin star Ondrej Duda this summer. Although the Slovak won’t be a like-for-like replacement for Wilson, he’ll bring flair, pace, power, creativity and goals to this Bournemouth side.

The 24-year-old playmaker has been in brilliant form in Hertha Berlin colours this season. Ondrej Duda has mightily impressed with his dazzling displays in the final third, producing 10 goals and three assists in 23 Bundesliga games thus far.

Ondrej Duda

The Slovakian is an intelligent attacker, blessed with good technique, stamina and a decent turn of pace. He is fantastic in the air and a lovely finisher in front of goal. Offering a blend of subtlety and skill to his play, Duda has the ability to drop deep and hold the ball up, helping bring other players into play and possibly extract the best out of the rampaging full-backs and wingers.

The former Legia Warsaw ace is excellent in retaining the ball and spreading play, whilst also works tirelessly throughout the game. The 24-year-old likes to play between the lines and exploit those half-spaces between the full-backs and centre-backs. A technically-gifted, goal-scoring as well goal-creating midfielder, Duda would link up brilliantly with the likes of Brooks, Wilson and King and cause mayhem for the opposition.

That said, Howe should do everything in his powers to land the Slovakian in the summer.
