Why Cameron Carter-Vickers would be a good signing for Bournemouth
According to Football Insider (h/t Stoke Sentinel), Bournemouth have submitted an offer for Tottenham centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers as the Cherries look to rebuild their squad after suffering relegation from the Premier League.

As per the report, Tottenham rate the United States international at £2.5million while a loan deal could also be on the cards as far as Bournemouth are concerned. It hasn’t been mentioned, however, whether the Cherries are looking to sign him on a permanent basis.

Cameron Carter-Vickers rose through the youth ranks of Tottenham and caught the eye across various age groups before making his senior professional debut for the Lilywhites during the 2016-17 campaign. He didn’t feature in the Premier League but made four appearances in the cup competitions.
The 22-year-old has since gone through loan spells at five different clubs – Ipswich Town, Sheffield United, Swansea City, Stoke City, and Luton Town – in the Championship.
Carter-Vickers started only 12 league games for the Potters during the first half of the previous campaign before joining Luton. He reunited with his former Stoke boss Nathan Jones and played a key role in the club’s bid for survival.
Bournemouth need more cover at the back
It has been a summer of transition for Bournemouth under new manager Jason Tindall following the club’s relegation from the Premier League. The Cherries have already pocketed some handy cash from the sales of Nathan Ake, Aaron Ramsdale and Callum Wilson.
However, they are yet to make any new signings this summer, and with the summer deadline fast approaching, the fans will be expecting some new faces to come through the door at the Vitality Stadium.
While replacing the star attacking duo of Wilson and Ryan Fraser remains a massive challenge for the club, the Cherries will also need to bring in some reinforcements at the heart of the defence.
Ake’s departure has undoubtedly left a massive void and it’s an issue that Bournemouth will need to sort out sooner than later. The Cherries have promising young centre-backs like Jack Simpson and Chris Mepham to partner experienced skipper Steve Cook but adding another option in that department could be a smart idea.
To put things into perspective, Cameron Carter-Vickers has a bagful of loan experience in the Championship, having featured 92 times for five different clubs in England’s second tier. The United States international has shown his quality during previous loan spells and he looks more than capable of providing Tindall with some additional cover.
The 22-year-old is also capable of slotting into a right-back role, meaning that his versatility could be another useful asset to Bournemouth.
In addition to that, Carter-Vickers remains a player with untapped potential in the Premier League. Bournemouth can also afford to look at him as a player capable of making the step up should they secure promotion.

Verdict
Bournemouth have a good reputation when it comes to bringing the best out of young players, as evident from the rise of Lewis Cook and David Brooks among others. The Cherries should ideally look at a loan deal for Cameron Carter-Vickers and then decide on whether to make his stay permanent, given that his future at Tottenham looks dead and buried.
