Why Norwich City should re-sign Alex Pritchard in the summer?

Alex Pritchard has impressed at Huddersfield Town since moving from Norwich City last January.

The 25-year-old attacker played a big part in the Terriers’ survival under David Wagner last season, ending with a goal and an assist in 14 games. In a season full of struggles that currently sees Huddersfield Town at the rock bottom of the table, Alex Pritchard has been a rare bright spark and may leave the club in the summer if the Yorkshire-based outfit gets relegated.

A defeat at Brighton last weekend was another blow for Jan Siewert’s men in their battle against relegation. Things are looking very bleak for Huddersfield Town and only a miracle from here on can keep them in the Premier League.

With relegation looking very likely for Siewert’s Huddersfield, Norwich City should take advantage of the situation and re-sign Alex Pritchard.

Daniel Farke

Norwich City are on a roll at the moment and look an unstoppable force in the Championship. After the shock 3-1 loss at Preston, the Canaries have registered three successive victories. They have scored 10 goals in the last three games which is a testament to the attacking flair Daniel Farke’s side possesses.

Farke’s team sit at the top of the table and are favourites to win promotion to the top-flight. They are one of the most exciting sides in the Championship and certainly have the quality to win the title this season. But Premier League football is very much different than Championship football, meaning Farke should add more quality to his squad ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

In Teemu Pukki, Marco Stiepermann, Emi Buendia, Onel Hernandez and Mario Vrancic, Norwich have good quality in the attack but none of them have top-flight experience. The addition of Pritchard, therefore, would make sense for Farke’s side.

Alex Pritchard 1

Pritchard is a nippy attacker, known for vision, dribbling skills and ability to unlock defences. The 25-year-old is a player with a lot of tenacity and stamina and can contribute a lot to the team with his high work-rate.

Farke knows Pritchard’s strengths and weaknesses, meaning the duo won’t take much time in understanding each other. Also, the Englishman’s Premier League experience would certainly come handy for a Norwich side whose priority after promotion should be survival.

That said, Farke should bring back Pritchard to Carrow Road ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
