Predicted 4-2-3-1 Newcastle United XI to face Burnley in the Premier League

After a calamitous start to the season, Newcastle managed to climb up the table to 14th in the standings with back-to-back victories over Watford and Bournemouth before the international break.

Rafael Benitez’s men have a good chance of making it three in a row when they make the trip to Turf Moor to face a struggling Burnley side on Monday.

Burnley currently sit 16th in the standings after a goalless draw against Leicester City in their last outing and Sean Dyche’s men will face a tough test from a Newcastle side that is high on confidence at the moment.

Both the teams do not have a good scoring record but they will be expected to go for the win to climb further up the table.

Team News

Newcastle will be without the services of left-back Paul Dummett who is sidelined with a hamstring injury while Yoshinori Muto (calf), Jonjo Shelvey and Jamaal Lascelles (shoulder) are scheduled to face late fitness tests ahead of the game.

Florian Lejeune and Jamie Sterry are long-term absentees due to injuries.

Predicted XI

1. Martin Dubravka (GK)

He made some fine saves in the last game to keep his team in the hunt and is expected to retain his position between the sticks.

2. DeAndre Yedlin (RB)

The American’s contribution to the attack was impressive in the last game against Bournemouth but question marks still remain over his defensive play.

3. Federico Fernandez (CB)

The hugely experienced Argentine centre-back looked solid in the previous outing and is expected to retain his place in the lineup.

4. Fabian Schar (CB)

He will be expected to start given that Lascelles is yet to recover from his shoulder injury.

The injury to Paul Dummett should open the door for the Irishman to feature in the starting eleven.

He made some valuable interceptions in the last game and his physicality in the midfield is indispensable to the Magpies.

7. Ki Sung-Yueng (CDM)

The Korean put in an impressive shift in the heart of the midfield and excelled with his passing and distribution in the previous outing.

8. Matt Ritchie (RM)

He wasn’t at his best in the last game and will be expected to put in an improved performance.

9. Robert Kenedy (LM)

The Chelsea loanee has always been a lively figure down the flanks and he bagged an assist in the last game.
