Profile
The 28-year-old Egyptian forward started his youth career at El Mokawloon in 2006. After four years, he broke into the first-team. In 44 appearances for the club, he scored 12 goals and provided 6 assists (source – Transfermarkt).
Europe came calling as Swiss club FC Basel secured his services in 2012. He continued his good form for one and a half seasons before Chelsea came calling at the start of 2014. His form took a nosedive at Chelsea and he struggled to get game time.
Within a year, he was sent on loan to Fiorentina. He regained his form in Italy and after he came back to Chelsea at the end of the season, he was again sent on loan, this time to Roma. It was at Roma where he produced some staggering numbers. In 83 appearances, he scored 34 goals and made 22 assists.
His second stint in England was with Liverpool when they signed him in 2017. Since then, he has been nothing but world-class for the team, helping them to a Champions League and league title. His stats for the club speak for themselves. He has a whopping 97 goals and 41 assists in 154 games (source – Transfermarkt).
He is a veteran for the Egyptian national team and has 67 caps and 41 goals for them.
Do Barcelona need Mohamed Salah?
Barcelona are in a royal mess of their own making. The club have had successive UCL humiliations and they are in the process of restructuring the team as players like Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal and Luis Suarez have been shown the door or are close to moving out (source – The Sun).
Amidst all of this, Barcelona look a bit light in the attack, especially if Luis Suarez leaves. This is where a player like Mo Salah can do the trick. He is a versatile forward who can play on the right as well as through the middle.
His positioning might coincide with that of Lionel Messi but Salah has the ability to interchange positions with other forwards, as we have seen at Liverpool.

Verdict
While any club would be lucky to have a player like Salah, it feels like Barcelona need him more than anyone else. He has scored a bucket load of goals and this would no doubt take the burden off Messi, who has been single-handedly pulling Barcelona forward in recent times.
Salah is a player that Barcelona desperately need and should do everything in their power to make this transfer happen.
