Australian Grand Prix 2022: Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc grabbed his second pole position of the season, ahead of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in Melbourne on Saturday.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc pulled off a stunning lap in Q3 on Saturday to take pole position for Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix. The Monegasque lit up Albert Park during a gorgeous sunset in Melbourne and put his car ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen (P2) and Sergio Perez (P3).

Leclerc looked as if he would start the race behind Max Verstappen, who had grabbed the provisional pole position with only a few seconds remaining in Q3. However, the 24-year-old will now start the race on Sunday at the top of the grid, ahead of the reigning world champion. It was the first time a Ferrari driver took pole position in Australia since Kimi Raikkonen in 2007.

McLaren’s Lando Norris managed to finish in P4 while the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell finished P5 and P6 respectively. Daniel Ricciardo will start his home race in P7 tomorrow, ahead of Esteban Ocon and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz. Fernando Alonso, who crashed in the final qualifying session, will start in P10, subject to any change in the Alpine driver’s PU.
