Aston Villa Opinion: Why the Villans should make a move for Ryan Kent?
According to a report from the Sun, newly-promoted Premier League club Aston Villa are eyeing a £10m swoop for Liverpool winger Ryan Kent.
The 22-year-old winger starred on loan for Rangers this past season, scoring six goals and supplying nine assists in 43 games across all competitions. The Gers boss Steven Gerrard wants Ryan Kent for another loan spell, but it looks highly unlikely following Aston Villa’s promotion.
The Villans have clinched promotion to the Premier League after winning the Championship play-off final against Derby County at Wembley Stadium in London on Monday afternoon. Dean Smith will now start planning to strengthen his squad to ensure that Villa stays in the top-flight next season.
The Aston Villa boss has a lot of areas to address, failing to do so could harm his team’s chances of maintaining their Premier League status. One of the areas that need reinforcing over the summer is the attack, with the club’s top-scorer Tammy Abraham set to return to Chelsea following the expiry of his loan spell.

That makes it so vital for Smith to bolster his attacking options and Ryan Kent could be a good fit at Villa Park.
Kent had a fantastic season in the Scottish Premiership and he caught the eye for Steven Gerrard’s team at Ibrox. The 22-year-old is a tricky left-winger with searing pace, dribbling skills and ability to score crucial goals for his team. He can take on defenders and beat them with his sudden burst of pace. The Liverpool academy star is also a willing runner and works tirelessly off the ball.

That and all his other attributes make him perfect for Dean Smith’s Aston Villa. Not only will Kent add quality to Villa’s attacking ranks, but also depth to the squad. He’ll also be a fantastic option to have from the bench.

However, Kent’s £10million valuation is a slight gamble given his lack of experience at the top level. But he’s got great potential and would add a much-needed cutting edge and freshness to Villa’s attack next season.
