Aston Villa Opinion: Joe Lolley would boost Villa’s attacking stats

According to a recent report by the Daily Mail, EFL Championship Playoff winners Aston Villa are being linked with a possible summer move for Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley.

The signing would be part of the Villans’ plan to strengthen their squad in order to try and survive the gruelling and rather unforgiving nature of Premier League football.

Aston Villa had an almost unbelievable season in the Championship last time around. Despite being around mid-table at Christmas, the Villans clawed their way back into the promotion picture.

Once they were in the playoff spots, they showed the maturity and courage to ensure that their performance levels didn’t drop.

Having now come through the playoffs successfully by beating Frank Lampard’s Derby County team in the final, Villa will be a part of the Premier League after a fairly long break.

Despite this though, they will be feeling motivated about their displays and will also be feeling confident about their chances on the biggest stage.

They have been a free-scoring side who have managed to tear some of the league’s best teams apart at will. Their attacking play at times can only be described as majestic as they seem to flow on the pitch.

The midfield play of John McGinn has been one of the highlights of Villa’s play this season and keeping him will be a top priority too.

Considering that Villa Park is going to be a Premier League venue after a fairly long absence, they will need to have the depth to deal with all the responsibilities that come with it.

Despite having a fairly strong squad from an attacking standpoint, their hopes of staying in the top flight for an extended period will hang on scoring enough goals.

Joe Lolley is one of the players being linked with the Villans and he would be an absolute blockbuster signing.

His pace and attacking prowess are assured to worry even the best Premier League defenders and the fact that he’s added goals to his game now will only make even deadlier in the final third of the pitch.

Having joined Nottingham Forest from Huddersfield Town earlier in his career, the 26-year-old has really developed into an impressive talent and he’s shown his class this season by scoring 11 and setting up 11 from his 46 league appearances.

He would make an excellent addition to the Villa side, who need as much help as they can possibly get to try and stay up next season.
