Arsenal Opinion: Why Nahitan Nandez would be a smart signing for Arsenal
According to South American outlet TNT Sports, Arsenal are interested in Boca Juniors midfielder Nahitan Nandez.
The Boca Juniors midfielder, 23, has already played 22 games for Uruguay and he is seen as a big star for the future. Nahitan Nandez is certainly a promising prospect and Arsenal must go all out to sign him this summer.
The report claims the Gunners boss Unai Emery is in the market to sign a midfielder after Aaron Ramsey left the club to join Juventus on a free transfer.
Ramsey had been keen on staying at the Emirates but was left shocked when the club withdrew a contract offer they had made to him. But now that the Welshman has departed, Emery needs to bring in a replacement this summer itself considering how important the midfielder was for Arsenal.
The North London giants are determined to close the gap on Premier League rivals Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham but will do so on a restricted budget.
Had they beaten Chelsea in the Europa League final, they would have had more money to spend in the transfer market this summer. Now, Emery needs to buy players smartly to bolster his squad ahead of the new campaign.
Nahitan Nandez wouldn’t break the bank, whilst being a smart addition for the Gunners. The Uruguayan works incredibly hard in the middle of the park and would offer as much energy and dig as Ramsey. His composure, creativity and attacking ambition is top-notch, which will potentially help driving Arsenal forward.
The 23-year-old is also versatile enough to operate in multiple roles at the middle of the pitch. He predominantly assumes the role of a box-to-box midfielder but is equally capable of filling in as a defensive midfielder or down the right wing.
Nandez boasts good pace and power and possesses the ability to open up a defence with his incredible vision and passing accuracy in the attacking third of the pitch.

The acquisition of a player of Nandez’s qualities will provide some healthy competition for players such as Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi at the Emirates next season.
