Arsenal Opinion: Three dream summer signings for Unai Emery’s Arsenal

Arsenal’s season has failed to take off on the right note and despite the best efforts of new manager Unai Emery, their frailties have come into the light on more than one occasion. While the signings of Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi have brought a welcome bit of energy in their midfield, they have struggled in other areas.

Defensively, Arsenal have been extremely poor this season with a large number of goals conceded simply due to careless individual errors.

The addition of a new full-back and a top-quality centre-half to replace the rather hopeless Shkodran Mustafi must top their agenda. With Alex Iwobi the only realistic winger option, a new player to work on the flanks should also be brought in.

Here are the 3 dream summer signings that Arsenal should pull off:

Nicolas Tagliafico

The Argentine full-back has been all over the papers in recent weeks for his high-quality displays for Dutch Eredivisie side Ajax. According to the Sun, his exploits for the Champions League semi-finalists have piqued the interest of Arsenal, who are said to be keen on their man.

The left-back is 26 now but has only recently entered what looks like the strongest phase of his career so far. With 26 league games to his name this season, the Argentine has scored a goal and provided a further 4 assists as well.

Considering Arsenal’s lack of depth in this position, this would be a no-brainer of a move.

Thorgan Hazard

The magical Belgian midfield star is the younger brother of Chelsea’s star man Eden Hazard. While they’re both pods of the same plant, their playing styles couldn’t be more different. Thorgan is less about the tricks and more about doing simple things well with composure. According to the Sun, Arsenal are thinking of signing him.

An excellent passer and crosser of the ball, Thorgan, like his brother, does have a stellar strike from distance. Playing for Borussia Monchengladbach this season, he has scored 9 and assisted 11 from his 29 league games.

He is versatile and can operate as a midfielder or as a winger, depending on what the situation requires. That kind of signing would be gold for Emery’s side.

Samuel Umtiti

The French World Cup winner hasn’t featured as much as he would’ve liked for Barcelona this season and a move to Arsenal could be good for the centre-half, keeping his career in mind. Still only 25, the Barcelona man has a massive future ahead of him.

As suggested by the Express, Umtiti could be looking at a possible move to the Premier League in the summer with Arsenal said to be in pole position to secure his signature.

Having played just 11 league games all season, it’s obvious that more playing time would be enough to attract Umtiti and Arsenal could really use a player of his calibre in their ranks.
