Arsenal Opinion: Why Ozan Kabak could be a fantastic signing for Arsenal?
According to a report from The Daily Mail, Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester United are all monitoring Stuttgart’s teenage defender, Ozan Kabak.
The Turkish defender, 19, moved to Stuttgart from Galatasaray in the January transfer window. Despite scoring three goals in 17 appearances and impressing with his strong defensive displays, he couldn’t help Stuttgart avoid relegation from Bundesliga.
The report claim German champions Bayern Munich are also interested in Ozan Kabak, who has a release clause of £13.2m. All the clubs mentioned are in dire need of defensive reinforcements but its Arsenal that should win the race for Kabak’s signature.
The Gunners boss Unai Emery will be keen to bring in defensive reinforcements after completing his first season at the Emirates. Arsenal conceded over 50 goals in the Premier League and were battered 4-1 in the Europa League final at the hands of Chelsea in Baku last week.
A lot of things have to change if the north London outfit are to realistically challenge for the Premier League title next season and shoring up the defence has to be Emery’s first and foremost priority. In senior central defenders like Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Nacho Monreal, the Gunners don’t have a leader at the back.
Koscielny is edging towards the twilight of his career and cannot be expected to play a big part for Emery’s side next season. Mustafi endured a torrid 2018/19 season, while Monreal is out of contract in 2020. Sokratis was the only rare bright spark in Arsenal’s defence but he horribly was out of depth in the Europa League final against Chelsea.
While the Gunners have some promising young defenders in Calum Chambers, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Rob Holding, Emery signing another talented stopper with a relatively low release clause will be a step in the right direction. That should make the signing of Ozak Kabak a smart move.
Standing at 6ft 1in, the highly-rated Kabak is strong in the air and robust in the challenge. He is extremely composed on the ball at such a tender age that belie his age. The Turkish defender is a leader and matured enough to handle tricky situations in the game.

His ability on the ball, stature and game-reading sense make him a very good fit for the Premier League and also at the Emirates.

Kabak is a very talented and promising young central defender who can be a real diamond in the future. With Stuttgart relegated from the Bundesliga, Arsenal must wrap up the young Turk’s deal as quickly as possible.
