Silva used to stay with his aunt and uncle but started training in MMA during his teens. He made a name for himself across several promotions in Japan and Brazil before becoming a huge star.

The UFC saw the best of Silva as he won several titles in the Middleweight division. Silva also holds the record of holding the title for the longest time with a reign of 2,457 days but all good things must come to an end.

Defeating Chael Sonnen at UFC 177 saw him get a payout of $320,000. However, in the losses against Chris Weidman, Silva made a staggering $600,000 per event.

Silva also made $820,000 in the win over Derek Brunson while in his outing against Jared Cannonier he made $620,000. He also made around $750,000 in his final UFC outing against Uriah Hall.

He won the Middleweight title in his second UFC fight and only lost it in 2013 to Chris Weidman. That was his first loss in the UFC and then a bit of a losing streak started.

Silva lost five of his next seven fights and his UFC record stands at 17 wins, six losses and one no contest.

Anderson Silva last fought Uriah Hall on 31 October 2020. However, there are no plans for him to fight next after the loss to Hall.

Silva was shockingly released by the UFC, and it is to be seen who he signs for next.
