Predicted Man United XI to face Huddersfield Town in the Premier League

Man United were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Chelsea in their last game but the Red Devils will be the outright favourites to claim all three points when they make the trip to the John Smith’s Stadium to face Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Sunday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have lost 7 out of their last 10 games in all competitions and they cannot afford any more slip-ups if they are to beat the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal to secure the 4th position.

Huddersfield Town, on the other hand, have nothing but pride to play for in the Premier League, having already been relegated to the Championship.

Team News

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has plenty of injuries to contend with ahead of the encounter on Sunday. Eric Bailly suffered a serious injury in the last game against Chelsea and the Ivorian is ruled out for this one, while Phil Jones is likely to return to contention after missing the previous outing.

Chris Smalling (knock), Jesse Lingard (knee inflammation) and Romelu Lukaku (tight hamstring) and all doubtful to play a part, while Marcus Rashford is also struggling with a shoulder problem.

Manager: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Formation: 4-3-1-2

Predicted XI

1. David de Gea (GK)

The Spaniard has come under the spotlight for some uncharacteristic errors in the last few games but he is likely to retain his position as the No.1 between the sticks.

2. Ashley Young (RB)

The veteran’s has struggled to cope with fast and agile opposition in high-octane clashes this season but he shouldn’t have much of a problem against the Terriers.

3. Victor Lindelof (CB)

The Swedish international has done reasonably well at the back in recent times and he will be expected to start on Sunday.

4. Phil Jones (CB)

The Englishman has had another season full of highs and lows but injuries to Bailly and Smalling should open the door for him to start.

5. Luke Shaw (LB)

The former Southampton man played some lovely long passes in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea and was an influential figure both in terms of attack and defence.

6. Nemanja Matic (CDM)

The Serb put in one of his best performances of the season in the last game and there is no reason why Solskjaer should bench him for this one.

7. Ander Herrera (RCM)

The Spaniard had a tidy game in the midfield last week and should retain his place in the starting eleven.

8. Paul Pogba (LCM)

United’s impact man in the midfield has been rather inconsistent over the last month or so and he will be expected to raise his game on Sunday against Huddersfield.

9. Juan Mata (CAM)

He was drafted into the starting eleven against Chelsea in a No.10 role and showed his class with some nice creative play. The Spaniard will be in high spirits after getting a goal last week and he certainly deserves another crack.

10. Anthony Martial (ST)

He hasn’t started too many games of late but he will be expected to get a start on Sunday if Rashford doesn’t recover in time.

11. Alexis Sanchez (ST)

United’s highest-paid player has hardly made any impact this season and he has slipped down the pecking order but injuries to Lukaku and Lingard should open the door for him to get a start.
