PWInsider revealed in a recent report that an internal source from Warner Brothers Discovery had told them that an edict had been issued to remove The Salt of the Earth from all promotional work for AEW programming going forward.

He is currently being removed from any TBS and TNT spots where he appears. Different AEW footage is being used as a replacement. It was noted that while this editing is going on, he might still appear in some of the newer commercials as of now.

MJF was recently pulled from AEW’s roster page and his merchandise was also pulled. The 26-year-old was also removed from the intro for Rampage on Friday. AEW’s social media handles have also stopped following him.

MJF did not appear for a meet-and-greet session with the fans one day before the Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Fans feared that he might not show up at Double or Nothing for his match against Wardlow. MJF, however, did not disappoint as he appeared at the event and took a loss against Mr. Mayhem.

On the episode of Dynamite that followed, MJF cut a promo and talked about how Tony Khan was paying him lesser than his worth. That promo caused quite a stir.

WWE Hall of Famer discusses the situation involving MJF and AEW

MJF is one of the most talented wrestlers in AEW and is excellent on the mic. He plays the character of a heel to aplomb.

Booker T in his latest Hall of Fame podcast discussed the situation. He said he was not sure whether it is a work or a shoot but felt that if it is indeed work, then AEW and MJF have done a good job.

“I don’t know if this is a work or a shoot,” Booker said. “One thing about it, if they are working us, it’s a good work. It seems authentic. It seems like it has a real feel to it. That’s why I feel like wrestling still can be that deal that makes people come out to see it because they don’t know all the outcome. They still want to know how this thing is going to play out? They want that thriller ending.”

“I think in wrestling now with social media being used the way it’s been used as of late, it hasn’t done wrestling a service at all. But for something like this, to really make something like this really feel real to where MJF almost no-showed one of the biggest events of the year because of something going on between him and Tony Khan and the company and whatnot.”
