AEW star Britt Baker takes jibe at WWE over Saudi Arabia comment

AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker made a direct reference to WWE over the shows in Saudi Arabia during an episode of AEW Dynamite.

Baker was annoyed after Rebel’s injury during a tag team match against Nyla Rose and Vickie Guerrero. She spoke backstage saying:

“Maybe next week, AEW Dynamite can run in Saudi Arabia!”

This could have been a shot at WWE deciding to host shows in Saudi Arabia, with many WWE fans not too happy about it.

Saudi Arabia doesn’t have the greatest of human rights records, but WWE has been conducting specials shows in the Arab in recent years. Further, the Arab market is a big one for WWE and it makes sense for them to push their product into newer markets.

Baker also spoke about supporting Rebel and added how tough her partner was: (h/t Wrestling Inc)

“I was kind of unaware what was going on [in the ring]. I had a lot going on too because I got powerbombed through a table, so that was miserable. So we met back up in the medical room. I was in there after the table bump, she was in there because her knee popped out. But, as a team, we had a nice little squat in the back, got the knee popped right back in. We had a nice little shot to celebrate and, you know, Reba is a trooper! She’s a bad**s.”

The jibe was to Tony Khan who she accused of making the match as a favour to sign Andrade El Idolo. Baker’s highlight in AEW has to be the Unsanctioned Lights Out match in the main event of AEW Dynamite against Thunder Rosa.

Baker’s gratitude towards Tony Khan

Despite the on-screen segment, Baker also took time to speak to TalkSport and reveal her dynamics inside the company. Since her entry, she has been one of the most impressive wrestlers in the women’s roster.

The AEW Women’s World Champion has made the AEW women’s division her own

She revealed that everyone in AEW has been helpful to her and made her feel welcome. She owes a big influence of her successful reign to Khan, who believes in her abilities.

Baker still has a long way left in her career and she will look to keep improving and be among the best in the industry.
