AEW star MJF is on the road to recovery from injury

AEW star MJF took to Twitter to provide another update regarding his injury, which has kept him out of action for a while.

MJF has been laying low as of late with no appearances on Dynamite. Surely part of the reason probably has to do with travel restrictions from the coronavirus pandemic. Another reason may be that MJF is legitimately injured.

Earlier this month, MJF had fans worried with a tweet that something awful happened to him, but he didn’t elaborate on the situation.

Later, MJF stated that he might need surgery as he has injury history with his elbow. Recovery time back in late 2018 caused him to vacate the MLW Middleweight Championship. MJF also had elbow issues in mid-2019 after AEW’s Fight for the Fallen.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman started to explain why he hasn’t been on Dynamite. He was in a sling and blamed the injury on his excessive gambling during his last appearance.

The nature of MJF’s injury was not disclosed either. He did not reveal when his return is expected, but MJF did promise that he will become the AEW World Champion.

MJF beat Cody at AEW Revolution

Cody Rhodes hoped to get his long-awaited revenge on MJF at AEW Revolution, but it was MJF who came out on the winning end of their grudge match.

MJF used his Dynamite Diamond ring to knock Cody out and pin him for the win.

After months of MJF acting like he was Rhodes’ friend, he turned on the fan-favourite last November.

Chris Jericho retained as AEW World Heavyweight Championship over Rhodes in the main event of the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event.

The stipulation coming into the title match last November was the fact that if Cody didn’t beat Jericho then he would never allow himself to challenge for the AEW World Title again.

MJF threw in the towel while Jericho had Cody in the Walls of Jericho, which resulted in the finish.

After the match, MJF kicked him in the nuts and stood over Cody. Since then, the two had been exchanging words to build to the match.
