CM Punk apologizes for a Tweet regarding his Revolution Entrance

CM Punk faced MJF at AEW Revolution in a dog collar match. The match was brutal as the name suggests and had an interesting finish as well.

CM Punk’s famous theme “Cult of Personality” by Living Colour played for a little while before MJF’s entrance but that wasn’t all.

The former WWE superstar CM Punk entered the arena to AFI’s “Miseria Cantare”, which was the theme he used during his Ring of Honor days as well as on the other independent promotions.

Punk took his fans on a nostalgia trip as he was also wearing ring gear similar to the ones he wore during his time at Ring of Honor.

Punk is a Ring of Honor Hall of Famer. He was inducted due to his tremendous showing for the company in the earlier years of his wrestling career. Most fans identified the ring gear and the theme song. There were some who didn’t.

Paul Fontaine, a staff writer for the Wrestling Observer Newsletter put out a tweet saying:

“What am I missing with this Punk entrance?”

Punk replied: “A deep understanding of storytelling. A brain.”

Punk would later delete this tweet and put out another tweet but this time he apologized for his past tweet. He said:

“I’m sorry if I was snarky to a guy who was being s**t to other people in his replies. Context is everything. None of this is important. Lets’s all hug and drink Shirley temples.”

Fontaine replied to Punk’s tweet saying:

“This is fair. I made two comments I wish I could take back. Looking forward to seeing what you do next….on screen.”

It’s a matter of time before we see Wardlow versus MJF

Punk was very emotional after paying homage to his time in ROH and the promotion itself via his entrance and ring gear.

Wardlow in action (AEW)

He had just won a riveting match against MJF. MJF summoned his “bodyguard” Wardlow during the closing stages of the match. The leader of The Pinnacle has been involved in a war of words in Wardlow in recent weeks.

Friedman has downplayed Wardlow at every instance and last week he even slapped the big man threatening to bring his family on the streets.

Towards the closing stages of the match between Punk and MJF, Wardlow came near the ring. MJF asked for the Dynamite Diamond Ring which was the same weapon he used the hand Punk his first loss in AEW.

Wardlow acted as if he had forgotten the ring. MJF got distracted and it allowed Punk to execute the GTS. Wardlow would finally find the ring in his pocket and he tossed it into the ring.

Punk would use it to good effect as he punched Mjf with it and won the match.

MJF must be furious with what transpired and a huge match is on the cards. Fans have been waiting for Wardlow’s face-turn and they are very close to having it.
