Former WWE Superstar CM Punk signing for the AEW looks imminent

Former two-time WWE champion CM Punk will soon be joining the All Elite Wrestling. Punk hasn’t professionally wrestled since January 2014, when he last took part in the 2014 Royal Rumble.

Having tried his hand at UFC, and as a Cage Fury Fighting Championship commentator, it looks like he has got a second calling from professional wrestling.

He had also hinted at a promotional debut on the 5th of September at the AEW All Out PPV, with a story on Instagram which had an audio clip of Sirius by the Alan Parsons Project. The song was used by the Chicago Bulls in the 90s, and AEW All Out is set to take place in Chicago.

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T had a few reservations on CM signing with the AEW. Booker T stated that he was doing brilliantly when he was well into his 40s, but still had an ‘inferiority complex’ in the locker room with young fighters.

The former champion explained that the game has changed a lot since Punk left the WWE. However, he still trusted in ‘PJ’ to pull it off.

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Bookert T was quoted as saying:

“My thing is this, out of sight, out of mind. CM Punk has been out of the game for a minute…..I’m not hating or anything like that, but my thing is this. Even as great a physique as I have right now at 56, when I got into my 40s, mid-40s, even though I looked good, I had a phobia about taking my shirt off in the locker room with the young guys. I had a subconscious thing that I was working with there and thinking maybe my time has passed me by, maybe it’s time for me to start doing something else, as well as, man, am I losing a step. I started questioning myself when I got to a certain age. That’s where I’m coming from with the CM Punk thing. Can he go out there and still do it? Yes, but has the game changed tremendously in the last seven years? Yes, I think so.” [via Rajah.com]

King Booker then revealed which promotion would suit the most.

Although Booker T didn’t single out a promotion, he claimed that the place that wanted him the most is where the former WWE Superstar had to go.

Here is what Booker T had to say:

“I think the place that wants him the most is the place where CM Punk needs to be. I don’t care if it’s New Japan, AEW, or WWE.”

The AEW ‘s roster and star-power, has been growing astronomically with the promotion signing a plethora of former WWE stars, with CM Punk and Daniel Bryan being the latest big names.
