CM Punk replies to Sasha Banks as AEW beats WWE in ratings

The ratings war between AEW and WWE has managed to seep down to the wrestlers as well. Heading into the last week’s “Supersized” SmackDown there was a lot of anticipation because SmackDown and Rampage were going head to head in a 30-min segment.

On the morning of SmackDown, Sasha Banks to Twitter to hype up the show and claimed “it’s clobberin’ time.” This happens to be the phrase CM Punk uses in his entrance. This did not sit well with Punk who made sure to seize the opportunity of hitting back at her after AEW beat WWE in ratings this past week. He tweeted:

“Indeed it was. #AEWDynamite #CMPunk”

Punk fired back with a hilarious GIF claiming yes it was clobberin’ time but for AEW. During this past week, AEW managed to beat WWE in ratings in a key demographic.

In which ratings demographic did AEW surpass WWE?

AEW beat WWE in the demographic of 18-49 male, they had a rating of 0.34 and 0.32 respectively. On top of that, AEW Rampage also beat SmackDown in head to head in their 30-min overlap. During this AEW drew 328,000 viewers whereas WWE drew 285,000 viewers in the 18-49 overall.

In total SmackDown had 866,00 viewers and Rampage had 578,000 viewers in the demo of 18-49. Rampage also managed to tie with SmackDown in the demographic of 19-34.

It is the first time that AEW has managed to surpass WWE’s SmackDown and they will hope to continue doing that in the long run as well which most of the other promotions have failed on.
