AEW Dynamite Results and Grades 6 May 2020: What carnage took place in the street fight?

published

AEW Dynamite Results and Grades: AEW had a loaded event card for this week’s show with the main event being the street fight between Le Sex Gods and Kenny Omega & Matt Hardy.

Another major talking point was that AEW was live after almost a month. And they decided to amp up the Double or Nothing PPV which is in a few weeks.

Jon Moxley was back in action too, as were Lance Archer and Cody Rhodes. There was some crazy antics on this AEW Dynamite and here are the results and grades.

Cody vs Janela

Rhodes was up against Joey Janela and the pair shook hands before going at it. The match was fast-paced with several pinfalls and Cody was having a tough time keeping Janela at bay.

The clash also took place outside the ring and it seemed that Janela could pull off an upset of sorts.

However, Cody hit the Cross Rhodes back in the ring to pick up the win. The men also shook hands after the fight as a sign of respect.

Cody beats Janela

Grade B

This was a surprisingly quality match given that the pair don’t have much of a rivalry. Cody went on to prove that he still is one of the best in the ring while Janela showed what he can do when given the right opportunity.

Nyla Rose is back

AEW Women’s Champion Nyla Rose was back in action after a long time away from the ring. She was up against Kenzie Paige and destroyed her opponent.

Rose hit a couple of powerbombs and then hit a BeastBomb to pick up the win.

Rose beats Paige

Grade B

This was complete domination from Rose and that was just what AEW needed from their champion. The champ not coming onto the show for weeks hasn’t been great but this just went on to show how great she actually is and taking the title off her hands won’t be easy.

MJF and Shawn Spears cut promos

MJF cut a promo suggesting that he is quality enough to sit back and be at home. He also suggested that his throne would remain here and he would be back on his seat next week.

Shawn Spears also spoke about how Cody was responsible for what happened to Dustin last week after Lance Archer destroyed him.

Tony Schiavone then interviewed Spears and MJF. MJF confirmed he would be back wrestling next week while he claimed that Spears was crazy for calling out Cody.

Grade B

It is great that Spears is finally getting some recognition and time on TV. He was wasted on WWE but hopefully, AEW realises he is a quality star to have on their books and needs to wrestle.

The MJF story has been a bit hit and miss as he has constantly said he would be back, and hopefully, we will see him in action next week.

Moxley vs Kazarian

Frankie Kazarian took part in a singles match after almost a year but it was against AEW World Champion Jon Moxley.

The match was a tough affair with Kazarian dominating early on before Moxley made the comeback.

The Champion picked up the win thanks to a Paradigm Shift but was attacked by the Dark Order. SCU came out to make the save but was taken out as Brodie Lee made an appearance.

The Exalted One attacked Christopher Daniels before challenging Moxley for the title. Moxley accepted the fight but was then destroyed by Lee.

The Dark Order kept attacking Moxley after that as Lee walked away with the title.

Moxley beats Kazarian

Grade A

Lee joined AEW to be one of the top stars and he will finally get a chance. It is surprising that Hager was nowhere to be seen after his loss to Moxley, but this is going to be an interesting clash, to say the least.

It might feel like Lee got a shot a little early in his AEW career, but he is being built as someone who is incredible and his match against Moxley should be great.

By the way, Kazarian looked great in singles competition and deserves more chances to perform.

Archer in action

Archer took on QT Marshall who was accompanied to the ring by Brandi Rhodes. It was Marshall who thought of stopping Dustin Rhodes match against Archer last week, but he was destroyed by Archer easily.

The Murderhawk won easily but Britt Baker came out from nowhere to attack Brandi after the match.

Brandi was left unconscious as Jake Roberts pulled out a serpent and let it slither on Brandi.

Archer beats Marshall

Grade B

Cody vs Archer is going to be excellent for the TNT Championship. Roberts deciding to do his bit from his old days was another way to bring more heat to this rivalry, and it was great to see one of those snakes make an appearance on AEW.

Attacking the wife of Cody was bad enough from Baker but Roberts seems to have taken this to another level.

Massive street fight

Matt Hardy and Kenny Omega took on Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara in a street fight. The match was crazy and relentless as some Inner Circle members also interrupted the feud.

The clash went backstage as Jake Hager, Santana and Ortiz also made appearances and helped out Guevara and Jericho.

It seemed that Omega would be destroyed in a two-on-one as Hardy was dumped into an ice box. But he came back as Damascus and got control of a golf cart.

Hardy and Omega then turned the tables as they hit Jericho while driving the cart. They even chased Guevara and ran him over in a crazy spot.

Omega and Hardy seemed set for the win but the Inner Circle overpowered them as Jericho and Guevara celebrated.

Jericho and Guevara beat Omega and Hardy

Grade A

AEW certainly knows how to turn up the crazy in some fights. The golf cart bit was hilarious and dangerous at the same time, and this was an excellent yet brutal match.

The pairing of Omega and Hardy was made on short notice, but they were excellent. However, the numbers game was strong for the Inner Circle as they celebrated another win.

AEW TV Ratings

The Wednesday night rivalry saw AEW get another point ahead of WWE.

AEW Dynamite got 732,000 viewers on TNT and beat NXT, who got in 663,000 viewers (h/t Showbuzz Daily).

AEW has constantly beaten NXT in the ratings war, and this was another week where Dynamite got one over NXT.
