AEW Dynamite results and grades 15 April 2020: AEW World Championship brings the house down

AEW Dynamite results and grades: AEW had some big matches set up for this week’s Dynamite show, and one certainly got a lot of build-up over the weeks.

Jake Hager was to face AEW World Champion Jon Moxley in a No Holds Barred match, and that was going to bring the house down.

There were some other important clashes, such as a quarter-final for the TNT Championship and here are the results and grades for this week’s show.

Archer takes on Cabana

Dynamite started with the TNT Championship quarter-final clash between Colt Cabana and the Murderhawk Lance Archer.

Jake The Snake Roberts and Cabana had something to say before the match and it was Cabana that got the better of Archer in the opening segments.

However, Archer came roaring back in the match with a pounce and then finished off his rival to proceed into the next round.

Grade B

Archer has been great since coming into AEW. He doesn’t talk much, thanks to the excellent work of Roberts, and he seems to be a monster in the ring.

Cabana never really had a chance of beating Archer, and it will be interesting to see if the Murderhawk wins the TNT title.

Bleeding Britt Baker is back

Britt Baker stole some of the headlines last week after her busted up nose led to a lot of blood pouring out.

She might have lost her match to Hikaru Shida last week, but Baker was in action against Cassandra Golden this time around.

Shida was watching the match from ring-side as Baker won the clash easily and even had a go at Shida after the match.

Grade B

Baker might have lost last week’s clash but she looked great in this squash match. It wasn’t the greatest match but it showed that Baker should not be taken lightly on AEW’s women’s division.

Guevara gets some Sugar

Sugar D got a chance to impress on his Dynamite debut but he was up against Sammy Guevara. The fight was called by Chris Jericho on the microphone and he seems to have a crush on Guevara.

D did have some offence in this clash but it was the impressive Guevara that picked up the win.

The Inner Circle member then beat up D before claiming he would destroy Darby Allin in the TNT Championship tournament.

Guevara beats Sugar

Grade C

It wasn’t a surprising result by any means and it put Guevara in a strong position in AEW. The Spanish star is one of the best in the ring, and it will be interesting to see how his match against Allin goes.

Sabian vs Taylor

Chuck Taylor was in action and had Orange Cassidy by his side. Kip Sabian was the opponent in this clash and Penelope Ford helped him throughout the match.

There was a lot of interference from Ford, something that Cassidy also tried to do later on. However, that didn’t work for Taylor as Sabian got the win.

Grade C

Sabian picked up the win with a lot of interference and the match didn’t feel all that great either. Kip needed to get a W but there was too much going on to get him the win.

Spears also picks up a win

Shawn Spears took on Justin Law and it was the former WWE star who seemed set for a win. He was overconfident, however, and toyed with his opponent throughout the match.

Spears also allowed his opponent his back and was almost pinned, in a huge upset. However, he then destroyed Law and picked up the win out of sheer frustration.

Grade B

This was a squash match with a difference as Spears almost lost the clash early on. It was great seeing him unload on Law, and hopefully, he will get more time in the ring to show off his skills.

AEW Championship match

Hager and Moxley faced off in a No Holds Barred match with no fans in the stadium.

The pair went hammer and tongs early on with Moxley even trying to get a submission from his rival.

Hager then targeted Moxley’s injured arm and ribs, but it just wasn’t working for him. The match was a brutal affair and Hager even brought out the steel chairs in hopes of causing more damage.

The challenger also hit Moxley with a low blow, but that wasn’t enough to stop the champion. Moxley hit a Paradigm Shift on Hager on a chair for the win.

Grade B

This was a physical affair but it was surprising that the undefeated Hager lost the clash. The former WWE star was pushed relentlessly by AEW in recent weeks, and it will be interesting to see what happens next for him.

Moxley keeping the crown isn’t bad, but something was missing from this match.
