5. Sensational Sherri – WWF Women’s Championship reign for 441 days

Sherri Martel was referred to World Wrestling Federation (WWF) by former American Wrestling Association (AWA) wrestler Jesse Ventura. She made her debut on July 24, 1987, and ended the stunning reign of The Fabulous Moolah as the WWF Women’s Champion.

At that point, she was also the AWA Women’s champion. However, she would lose that title only three days after winning the WWF Women’s title.

Sherri would rename herself as Sensational Sherri. She had an impressive reign as the WWF Women’s Champion. She had good feuds with Debbie Combs, Desiree Petersen, and most notably against Velvet McIntyre. Sherri kept the title for an incredible 441 days.

She lost the title on October 7, 1988, to the second-generation wrestler Rockin’ Robin.

During her championship reign, she would multitask as well. She made numerous appearances wearing a costume as “Peggy Sue,” the girlfriend of The Honky Tonk Man. She would interfere in his matches and distract his opponents.

After WWF decided to phase out its women’s division, Sherri stayed with the company. She focused her attention on managing male wrestlers like Randy Savage, Ted DiBiase, and Shawn Michaels to name a few.

4. Trish Stratus – WWE Women’s Championship reign for 448 days

The seven-time WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus is one of the most popular female wrestlers of all time. She was the face of the women’s division during her days in the company. She has a tremendous fan following.

Trish has close to 2 million followers (1.9 million) on Instagram which is incredible for someone who had stopped working actively for the company almost 15 years ago.

Many current female Superstars idolize Trish and she has been a trailblazer for the women’s division. She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2013.

Trish’s sixth reign as the WWE Women’s Champion is her longest at the top. She won the title from her best friend Lita in Puerto Rico.

Her reign was ended by Mickie James and the two arguably had the best feud ever in women’s wrestling. Trish lost the title to James at WrestleMania 22 in a match which ebbed and flowed and the crowd enjoyed every bit of it.

3. Rockin’ Robin – WWF Women’s Championship reign for 502 days

Rockin’ Robin is the daughter of Grizzly Smith. Jake “The Snake” Roberts is her half-brother. She defeated Sensational Sherri to win the WWF Women’s Championship.

She defended her title at the Royal Rumble in 1989 against Judy Martin and their feud continued till mid-1989. Robin had sung “America the Beautiful” to open WrestleMania 5.

She held the title until 1990 when she left the company. WWF had retired the title back then due to inactivity. Interestingly, she is still in possession of the title belt.

The title remained inactive till 1993. She would head over to the independent circuit after that.

2. Asuka – NXT Women’s Championship reign for 522 days

If there’s a list of top superstars to have impressed the most at NXT, Asuka would be right there among the first few. It’s unbelievable in today’s day and age that someone was unbeaten for 914 days in WWE.

Asuka won the NXT Women’s Championship from Bayley on April 1 at NXT TakeOver: Dallas. Asuka defended her title against some veterans and impressive upstarts. She won against Mickie James, Ember Moon, Ruby Riot, and Nikki Cross to name a few.

On August 21, 2017, WWE announced that Asuka had broken her right collarbone during a match versus Ember Moon at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Asuka had won the match and successfully defended her championship but suffered the aforementioned injury in the process.

She had to relinquish the title at the August 24 NXT tapings, ending her reign at 522 days. She had her farewell segment as well where William Regal hailed her as “one of the greatest champions in WWE history”, revealing that negotiations had commenced regarding Asuka’s entrance on the main roster.

1. The Fabulous Moolah – WWF Women’s Championship reign for 10,170 days

The Fabulous Moolah – Newsday

This is one record that might never be broken. It lasted a whopping 10,170 days which is close to three decades.

Marry Lillian Ellison better known as The Fabulous Moolah won the title back in 1956. She would outlast 12 other women to win a Battle Royal for the vacant Women’s Championship of the World. Moolah had eliminated Judy Grable in the end to win the title which she kept on her shoulders for 28 years.

She became the first woman to wrestle in Madison Square Garden and along with Vince succeeded in lifting the ban against women’s wrestling at the Garden.

When Vincent Kennedy McMahon began expanding World Wrestling Federation in 1983, Moolah sold him the rights to her Women’s World Championship. She agreed to appear exclusively for the WWF and this would make her the inaugural WWF Women’s Champion.

Her unparallel title reign ended in July 1984 at the Madison Square Garden when she lost to Wendi Richter. Wendi was a young competitor managed by pop star Cyndi Lauper.

There are a couple of tag team reigns that would have come in numbers 2 and 3 but we have focused on singles titles only. The Glamour Girls (Leilani Kai and Judy Martin) held the WWF Women’s Tag Team Championship for 906 days while the team of Prince Victoria and Velvet McIntyre held the same titles for 574 days.
