Why Alex Telles would be a good signing for Manchester United
According to the Mirror, Alex Telles could be on his way to Manchester United after his agent was said to be in Manchester to usher negotiations for the Brazillian. Manchester United have always been admirers of the player and a deal could soon be on the cards.

Alex Telles is a 27-year-old Brazilian left-back who currently plays for FC Porto. He started his career at Juventude’s youth team before getting promoted to the first-team in 2011. He then moved to another Brazilian club Gremio, but only for a season.
His European journey started with Galatasaray in 2014 but due to a lack of games, he moved to Inter Milan on loan for the 2015-16 season. While he did get to feature more often, it was only after he moved to Porto in 2016 that he established himself as one of the best attacking left-backs.
Quite how Porto have managed to keep him at the club is a marvel when you consider the insane numbers he has racked up despite playing as a full-back. In 192 appearances across all competitions, he has scored 24 goals and assisted another 55 (source – Transfermarkt).
He can count himself a bit unfortunate when it comes to representing the country as the presence of Marcelo has restricted his appearances in yellow to just one.
Why Telles would be a good signing for Manchester United
Manchester United face a very delicate situation when it comes to the left-back position. Luke Shaw was looking at his best after an injury-laden 5 years, only to succumb to another injury at the tail end of the season.
Brandon Williams has been solid since being promoted to the team but he is right-footed and looks like he still needs some time before he can be an assured starter. His chemistry with Rashford on the left was also another issue as Shaw looked much more at ease with Rashford ahead of him.
At 27, Telles isn’t exactly the type of signing that the club have targeted in recent times but he is one the club could do with right now. United lack any sort of attacking involvement from their fullbacks and this doesn’t allow them to stretch the opposition defences which are compact.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is slowly starting to show better output but is still low when compared to the quality offered by some of the elite full-backs in the world.
Alex Telles is one of the best attacking full-backs there is currently. He is dominant and can dovetail well with Rashford, allowing the forward to cut in and pose a threat.

Verdict
Telles is in his prime years as a player and United could well do with a player who doesn’t get injured every now and then, and provides numbers in front of goal from a defensive position.
