Dominick ‘The Devastator’ Reyes was born on the 26th of December 1989 in California, United States. The towering American who has a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems made his MMA debut in December 2014 in a promotion called King of the Cage, founded by Terry Trebilcock.
Reyes then went on to fight in Indiana based promotion called the Hoosier Fight Club. After breezing past his opponent in under 30 seconds, he moved to the Legacy Fighting Alliance. Reyes made his debut against Jordan Powell in June 2017, winning via. a head kick KO in the very first round, which went viral quickly.
And, in no time, Reyes had earned himself a contract in the UFC, and in the same month he took on Joachim Christensen at UFC Fight Night: Chiesa vs Lee, and won via. first round knockout again.
He slowly made a big name for himself in the UFC, and at UFC 247 he almost came close to defeating Jon Jones for the light-heavyweight title. He is now ranked number 3 in the light-heavyweight division.
MMA and UFC Record
Dominick Reyes entered the sport quite late. He was almost 25 when he made his MMA debut. His MMA record currently stands at an impressive 12 wins and 3 losses. And, his UFC record stands at 6 wins and 3 losses.
Throughout his career Reyes has fought only in the light-heavyweight division. And he has made quite a name for himself as a knockout artist as well. Out of his 12 wins, 7 have come via. knockout.
He famously beat Chris Weidman who was making his light-heavyweight debut, with a devastating flurry of punches, winning in the first round. The win got him the Performance of the Night bonus.
Then came his eventful 2020, when he almost came inches close to beating the indomitable Jon Jones at UFC 247. This led him to challenge Jan Blachowicz for the light-heavyweight title, since Jones had relinquished his belt. But, Reyes succumbed to the Polish Power at UFC 253.
Net Worth and Salary
The net worth of Dominick Reyes as of 2021 is approximately $1million, thanks to his high-voltage fights against Jon Jones and Jan Blachowicz at UFC 247 and UFC 253 respectively. Being only 31, he still has quite a long way to go.
UFC 247 and UFC 253 have been his biggest paydays. He took home a whopping $350,000 for his UFC 247 unanimous decision loss against Jon Jones. Until today, many believe that Reyes should have won that fight.
He received the same $350,000 for his ‘devastating’ KO loss against Jan Blachowicz in the co-main event of UFC 253. After Jones had relinquished his light-heavyweight title, the pair fought it out for the light-heavyweight belt. But, Reyes wilted, unable to bear the force that is, Jan Blachowicz.
Girlfriend, Family, and Endorsements
Dominick Reyes is not married yet, but he is rumoured to be dating Lauren Margaret Pena who is from the same town as Reyes’, Hesperia. They are believed to have been dating for quite a long time.
Reyes’ older brother Alex is an MMA fighter as well. He plied his trade in the lightweight division of the UFC. He hasn’t fought since 2017 due to a spinal infection.
As for Reyes’ endorsements, he recently became the brand ambassador for a Hesperia-based Cannabis company in July, last year. Besides that, he also has a sponsorship deal with Reebok.
Coming off two back-to-back losses, Dominick Reyes took on the Czech, Jiri Prochazka in the main-event of UFC Vegas 25.
However, things did not go the way of the former challenger as he was viciously knocked out in the second round thanks to a spinning elbow.
