Kelvin Gastelum is just getting into his stride despite being in the UFC for around 8 years now. Born in San Jose, California, Gastelum fought in various independent promotions in Mexico as well as the United States of America before his big break.

The Jiu-Jitsu black belt-holder won The Ultimate Fighter middleweight tournament at TUF 17. And since then, he has never looked back. Gastelum is still dividing opinions among fans as to what to make of him. He dabbled in the welterweight division before taking the step up to 185 a few years back.

He has seen off some big names in the promotion like Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Michael Bisping but has failed to keep a streak going. He recently had a stinking losing streak where he lost 3 in a row, but that came to an end at UFC 258.

Net Worth and Payouts

Kelvin Gastelum has amassed a massive net worth of approximately $1.5million. The American MMA fighter can thank his time in the UFC for that. And at just 29, you’d think he would be adding more to that as the years go by.

As for his payouts, Gastelum took home a cool $165,000 during his last MMA fight which came against Ian Heinisch at UFC 258. He has been having a 6-figure payday for 6 UFC fights in a row now and has earned almost $2million in UFC payouts alone.

His largest payout came in his high-profile UFC 236 loss to Israel Adesanya. The fight was for the interim middleweight title which Izzy won, but the silver lining from that gloomy day for Gastelum would be the $230,000 cheque he got to take home with him after the bell.

MMA and UFC Record

Gastelum has a 16-7-0 (1 NC) professional MMA record and is 11-7-0 (1 NC) in the UFC since his debut all the way back in 2013 at TUF 17. He actually had a pretty impressive start to his UFC career.

Gastelum was unbeaten in his first 5 UFC fights until he lost to Tyron Woodley at UFC 183 in a closely contested battle. And since then, his form in the promotion has been a see-saw. Most notably he had a rancid 3-fight losing streak recently when he lost to Israel Adesanya, Darren Till, and Jack Hermansson.

That finally come to an end when Gastelum beat Heinisch via unanimous decision at UFC 258. The only NC on his record was when his win against Vitor Belfort at UFC Fight Night 106 was overturned to a no-contest due to him testing positive for marijuana.

Girlfriend, Family, and Endorsements

Gastelum was born in San Jose, California, in the USA. But his family is of Mexican descent and traces their lineage from Obregon, Sonora, in Mexico. It is where he also started his professional MMA career in late 2010.

As for his girlfriend, he was last reported to be dating Marcey Osomo. He is not believed to be married yet or have any children. Gastelum likes to keep his private life away from the spotlight of social media.

The UFC fighter’s sponsors and endorsements are listed on his website, kelvingastelum.com. He is backed by Kings Muay Thai MMA, UFC, Pure Kana, and fighterwebsites.com.

Next Fight

Gastelum finally got to winning ways against Ian Heinisch at UFC 258 earlier this year. And he has another fight coming up pretty soon against Robert Whittaker at UFC Fight Night 188 on 17th April 2021.

Paulo Costa was supposed to be the Australian’s opponent for the fight but he pulled out, giving Gastelum a chance to swoop in. This was a very big opportunity for the American if he wanted to make a push for gold.

Gastelum is ranked #8 in the middleweight rankings and his opponent, Whittaker, is the #1 contender.

However, things did not go Gastelum’s way as Whittaker picked up a dominant win.
