UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is scheduled to fight Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight championship at UFC 259 this weekend.

‘Izzy’ ran over the middleweight division and saw the opportunity to take the step up to 205 when Blachowicz won the vacant belt at UFC 253.

And now, the Nigerian-born Kiwi is backing himself to get a shock finish against the Pole. It is widely discussed that Blachowicz’s biggest strength in the fight will be his knockout power.

He has, after all, finished his opponent in 3 of his last 4 UFC victories. But ‘The Last Stylebender’ is no slouch himself in this regard.

15 of Adesanya’s 20 professional MMA wins have come by way of knockout. This includes 12 knockouts in his first 12 professional fights.

And the contender seems to think he can replicate it at 205 as well. He announced a tie-up with betting site Stake.com on his Twitter account.

The tweet sees Adesanya announce that the betters would triple their money on him if he manages to knockout out Blachowicz.

“Think I can finish the fight on Saturday night? Bet on me with http://Stake.com and earn triple your winnings if I can knock my opponent out. Play smarter this weekend on @Stake [steak emoji].”

Those are not bad odds at all. But it disregards the chin on Blachowicz and the inexperience of Izzy at 205.

Adesanya is an ambassador for Stake.com, so it makes sense for him to promote this. However, you don’t win the raffle if you don’t buy the ticket.

It would have been an even better bet if a Blachowicz win by knockout had similar odds, but then again, we can’t have it all. And remember, bet smart.
