Rangers Predicted XI to face St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership
The Scottish Premiership returns to action with yet another round of intriguing fixtures as Rangers play host to St.Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night.
Steven Gerrard’s side are the overwhelming favourites heading into the midweek league encounter, having beaten St.Johnstone 3-0 back in December. Rangers will be high on confidence after a 1-0 win over Hibernian in their last game, thanks to a second-half strike from Alfredo Morelos.
The Ibrox giants have built an unassailable 27-point lead at the top, all but confirming their status as the new Scottish champions.
Kemar Roofe and Ryan Jack have both returned to action and will be available for selection. Scott Arfield is yet to recover from his ankle problem while Nikola Katic remains a long-term absentee with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Alfredo Morelos is an absentee following his 3-game ban.
Predicted Rangers XI
Allan McGregor (GK)
The veteran shot-stopper has been a figure of reliability between the sticks for the Gers. Should be high on confidence after yet another clean sheet in the win over Hibernian.
James Tavernier (RB)
The skipper put in a good shift at both ends of the pitch in the last game and should definitely retain his place in the starting XI.
Borna Barisic (LB)
The Croatian has been among the standout performers for the Gers this season and will be expected to continue his good work.
Connor Goldson (CB)
The former Brighton defender has been an undisputed starter for Rangers at the back, playing every minute of the club’s league campaign so far this season.
Filip Helander (CB)
The Swede had an excellent outing in the win over Hibernian, making the most of a rare start. Gerrard should continue to back him with regular playtime.
Ryan Jack (CDM)
The Scottish international showed signs of getting back to his best against Hibernian after making a comeback from injury. He should be set for another start on Wednesday night.
Steven Davis (RCM)
The veteran had a solid night against Hibernian in the last game and should start once again in the absence of Arfield.
Glen Kamara (LCM)
The Finland international absolutely dominated proceedings in the middle of the park in the last game and remains a key cog in the club’s engine room.
Ryan Kent (LW)
The former Liverpool man hasn’t scored in the league for quite a while but it’s impossible to undermine his importance to the side.
Kemar Roofe (RW)
The former Leeds United star came on as a substitute against Hibernian but should be fit enough for a starting role on Wednesday night.
- Why Dan Glazer to Rangers would bolster their midfield
- Why Rangers should continue their pursuit of Patrik Hrosovsky
Cedric Itten (ST)
With Morelos not available, Itten should get to start. He has 4 league goals to his name this season and this is a chance for him to prove himself further.
