Why Liverpool star Sadio Mane would be a smashing signing for Real Madrid

According to The Sun, Real Madrid could well be Sadio Mane’s next destination. The Liverpool forward was linked with a move to the Spanish giants earlier this year but no deal materialised at the time. Nonetheless, there are also clubs like Barcelona, PSG, Bayern Munich touted to be his next destination.

The 28-year-old Senegalese started out at his native club Generation Foot and spent most of his youth career there until 2011. He was then signed by Metz and drafted into their ‘B’ side. Within one season, he was promoted to their senior side as he went on to make 23 appearances that term.

In 2012, he was signed by RedBull Salzburg and in the two seasons he spent with them, he racked up an astonishing 77 goal contributions in 87 games. His exploits meant that Southampton came after him and while he may not have replicated those numbers, he still managed to capture the attention of big clubs.

Much like the Southampton players at that time, Mane made the jump to Liverpool in 2016 and he has not looked back since. In 183 games for the Reds, he has scored 86 goals and assisted another 37. He has played a huge part in their Champions League and Premier League wins in the last two seasons. The forward is an experienced man with 71 appearances and 21 goals for his national team.

Mane is exactly the type of signing Real Madrid need

It is no secret that Real Madrid have struggled immensely since the departure of a certain Cristiano Ronaldo. The signing of Eden Hazard was supposed to ease things that way but that hasn’t transpired as per plans. The club are feeling the shortage of goals as Karim Benzema is somehow carrying the majority of their goalscoring burden.

Sadio Mane has been one of the best wingers in recent times and under Klopp, he has taken his game to new heights. Sharing the goal scoring duties with Salah, the Senegalese has gone toe to toe with him and has kept matching his numbers in front of goal.

Real Madrid need someone exactly like Mane, someone who can breathe some life back into their lethargic attack. He is a live wire on the field, pressing the opposition right from the start and contributing handsomely to the team’s goal tally. If Real Madrid are to return to their days of continental dominance, they need to somehow figure out a way to sign the Liverpool man.
