Predicted Everton XI to face Liverpool in the Premier League
The Toffees are winless in their last 19 top-flight meetings against Liverpool but Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be keen to turn the tables this weekend after winning all of their four opening league fixtures before the international break
Reigning champions Liverpool, though, will go into the clash as the favourites to come away with all three points and it will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp’s side respond after a humiliating 7-2 hammering at the hands of Aston Villa.
Jean-Philippe Gbamin (calf), Mason Holgate (ankle), Jonjoe Kenny (ankle), Jarrad Branthwaite (ankle), and Cenk Tosun (knee) are all ruled out for the high-octane clash on Saturday. Seamus Coleman, Yerry Mina, and Allan will be pushing for a return to the starting eleven after recovering from minor issues.
Manager: Carlo Ancelotti
Jordan Pickford (GK)
The England international came under scrutiny for his bizarre handling error against Brighton and the fans will be hoping that there are no slip-ups from him this weekend.
Seamus Coleman (RB)
The veteran has rolled back the years with some top-notch performances over the past month or so. He will need to be at the top of his game to counter the threat of Sadio Mane.
Michael Keane (CB)
The former Burnley man has enjoyed a solid start to the season. Pretty much an undisputed starter at the back for the Toffees.
Yerry Mina (CB)
The Colombian remains a key cog in Everton’s backline. The Toffees will need him to be in the best share possible to cope with a potent Liverpool forward line.
Lucas Digne (LB)
The ex-Barcelona star is very much among the Premier League’s elite left-backs. His personal duel with Mo Salah could well decide the fate of the game.
The Brazilian has provided some much-needed stability and calmness to Everton’s midfield. He should replace Tom Davies on the teamsheet from the previous game.
Abdoulaye Doucoure (RCM)
He has added a lot of energy and dynamism to Everton’s midfield and a lot will depend on how he goes about things on Saturday.
Andre Gomes (LCM)
The Portuguese international has looked really fit and sharp in the opening stages of the campaign. He will be expected to rise up to the challenge once again.
James Rodriguez (RW)
The former Real Madrid star has had a transformative impact on the quality of Everton’s supply lines in the final third. He will surely be a key player for Ancelotti’s men this weekend.
- Why Everton should revive their interest in Marash Kumbulla
- Why Everton offering Michael Keane a new deal is a sensible decision
He remains an indispensable component of Everton’s attack. He should be amongst the starters for this high-voltage clash.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (ST)
Calvert-Lewin has been pivotal to Everton’s perfect start to the season and is currently the top-scorer in the division with 6 goals to his name. The fans will be hoping that he continues to fire on all cylinders.
