Why Milan Skriniar would be a fantastic addition to Manchester United
The report suggests that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees him as a perfect option but they could face competition to secure his services as PSG and Tottenham are also keeping tabs on the Slovakian.
However, the Red Devils are likely to make a bid for Skriniar, who they have been monitoring since July this year. (h/t The Sun)
Born in Slovakia, Skriniar came through the ranks of MSK Zilinia’s youth system and made 93 appearances for the Slovakian outfit before joining Sampdoria in January 2016. He impressed in his one and a half seasons with the Blucerchiati and earned a move to the Black and Blue side of Milan.
Skriniar immediately established himself as a key member of the squad. He has gone on to make 128 appearances for Inter and was part of the squad that reached the finals of the Europa League last season.
Since making his international debut in 2016, Skriniar has been capped 31 times by Slovakia and has got immense experience under his belt.
Skriniar would provide United with depth and quality in defence
United were one of the best defensive sides in the league last season as they conceded just 36 goals, with only Liverpool and Manchester City letting in fewer. Led by Harry Maguire, they did a decent job. But they weren’t able to replicate that form in the big games as they came crashing in three semifinals last seasons.
Maguire and Victor Lindelof have been regular starters in the heart of United’s defence. Eric Bailly hasn’t been consistent, struggling with injuries throughout his career so far. Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones have fallen down the pecking order and seem to have no future at Old Trafford. Youngster Axel Tuanzebe has been linked with a move elsewhere as well.
Thus, United’s interest in Skriniar is understandable. The Slovakian international is one of the best in his position in the Serie A and can fit into any lineup. He has already proved his worth in Italy and can become a crucial addition to United’s squad next season.
His inclusion would not only add depth to their backline, but he is also capable of fighting for a permanent spot in the starting XI. Skriniar has a lot more to offer in the future and can go on to lead United’s defence in the future if he is able to continue with the good form.

- Why Manchester United need not push too hard for Sergio Reguilon
With several players in United defence on the fringes, it is clear that they are in need of at least another central defender to bolster their backline. And Skriniar would provide them with some much-needed quality at the back. Thus, signing the 25-year-old Slovakian ahead of the new campaign would be a wise decision by the Old Trafford outfit.
