The 31-year-old has held the interim title in the past and has even fought in the Featherweight division.

Poirier has had some amazing fights during his MMA career and it all started with his time in World Extreme Cagefighting.

The Lafayette born Poirier started off his career with regional bouts in Louisiana and did pretty well.

His break came in the World Extreme Cagefighting promotion and won one of his two fights. However, the UFC then merged with WEC and Poirier got a shot at impressing in the big-time, something he grasped with both hands.

Poirier’s regional performances were great and he was 7-0 in various promotions across the US. The MMA star was 1-1 at WEC before getting a chance in the UFC.

Poirier won his first four fights in the UFC before losing to Chan Sung Jung. The American has had some incredible bouts during his time in the UFC and has some big scalps too.

Anthony Pettis, Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje have all lost to Poirier. By defeating Holloway at UFC 236, Poirier picked up the interim UFC Lightweight title.

However, that victory didn’t stay long in the memory as he was defeated in his next fight. Khabib Nurmagomedov got the better of Poirier at UFC 242 and the Russian took the belt away from him.

Poirier returned to action at UFC Las Vegas 4. He was in the main event against Dan Hooker, and picked up an impressive win.

The Diamond improved to 26 wins, 6 losses and 1 No content after his win over Hooker.

Poirier is married to Jolie and the couple have been together for a while. Jolie has been seen at several of her husband’s fights and has set up a charity with him too.

Jolie and Dustin have one child, Noelle Parker, who was born in 2016. Their daughter has also been seen in several fights, and the pair have put up a lot of photos on their social media accounts.

The American has had some huge payouts from his UFC wins with the biggest coming from defeating Holloway at UFC 236.

Reports suggest that Poirier earned $330,000 for that win and has a net worth of $1.72m. That would have increased a bit more after his loss to Khabib.

Jolie and Dustin founded the Good Fight Foundation in 2018 and has raised funds for several people, including a police officer from Lafayette.

Poirier has also auctioned off a lot of his fight gear to raise money for charity. Khabib and Poirier exchanged shirts after their fights with the Russian getting $100,000 for his rival’s shirt.

Dana White, the UFC president, also matched that amount and donated it to Poirier’s charity.

Poirier was also handed the first-ever Forrest Griffin award for his work related to charities.
