A former British race car driver Horner is the Team Principal of Formula One side Red Bull
Christian Edward Johnston Horner OBE is the Team Principal of the Red Bull Racing Formula One team – a position he has held onto until 2005.
Horner has won a total of 8 world titles so far and was also a former British race car driver. Horner started his career as a race car driver before switching to take on the role of Team Principal of International Formula 3000 team Arden International Motorsport in 1999.
Horner’s achievements soon caught the eye of Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz, who discharged the duties of running the Austrian company’s Formula One side when they made an entry into motorsport racing in 2005.
Christian Horner was born on November 16, 1973, in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, England to parents Garry Horner and Sara Horner. Cars and racing seem to be in his blood as he was born into a family involved in the car industry.
Horner’s grandfather used to work as the purchasing manager at the Standard Motor Company in Coventry and he has two siblings – brothers, Jamie and Guy.
His immediate successes as a race car driver saw Horner move quickly through the ranks competing at the Formula Renault scholarship (1991), British Formula Renault Championship (1992) and many others.
However, he took a big step by starting his team Arden and moving up to Formula 3000 in the year 1997. After realising that his talents rest not on the race tracks, Horner retired from driving to concentrate solely on developing the Arden team.
Net worth and salary
So far so good. That is how Horner’s career has evolved over the course of time. He has built a hugely successful career so far and has a net worth estimated to be around US$50million.
Moreover, his switch as the Team Principal of Red Bull has seen him being rewarded with huge sums of money.
At the moment, Horner is said to receive an estimated salary of US $10 million per year.
Who is his wife?
Christian Horner currently married to former ‘Spice Girls’ band member Geri Halliwell. The couple who began dating in 2014, got engaged in November the same year and tied the knot on May 15, 2015.
The pair announced the arrival of their first child in 2016. Geri gave birth to their first child – a son named Montague, born in January 2017.
However, this was not Horner’s first marriage having divorced from his previous wife Beverley Allen in 2013. He is also the father of a girl – Olivia Horner with his ex-wife Allen.
Horner is also the step-father of Gerri’s daughter, named Bluebell Madonna from her previous relationship with screenwriter Sacha Gervasi.
