(Watch) Virat Kohli’s DRS woes continue as captain wastes review after getting trapped LBW

India captain Virat Kohli doesn’t have a great record using DRS, and that was on show in the second Test against New Zealand.

The captain struggled in the previous clash and made just three runs when Tim Southee trapped him LBW.

Kohli was also out cheaply in the first Test, and Southee actually baited the captain well with a string of quality deliveries.

The captain was trapped for just three and looked plum, but decided to use the DRS anyway.

Replays highlighted the error of his ways. There was no bat involved and the ball was crashing into the stumps.

Kohli had to walk back after another failure against Southee, and many fans were simply not impressed by the captain’s decision making.

Southee also seems to have Kohli’s number when it comes to dismissals. The Kiwi star has picked up Kohli’s wicket several times and must be giving nightmares to the captain.

India’s struggles continue

The batting performance from most of the players was poor in the previous game, and that continued in the second Test too.

Only Prithvi Shaw, Hanuma Vihari and Cheteshwar Pujara scored battling 50s but none of them could convert that into a century.

Mayank Agarwal and Ajinkya Rahane were the others who failed as the pair only made single-digit scores.

New Zealand have made great use of the conditions while the Indians have played some poor shots too.

This is a stark contrast to the ODI and T20I series where the Indians did well with the bat. However, the longer format of the game seems to be hurting the away side’s performance.
