The Bushfire Cricket Bash was a charity match between the Ponting XI and the Gilchrist XI
Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist and a ton of other former cricket stars put on the pads for the Bushfire Cricket Bash.
The T10 match included several legends of the game as they raised money for all those affected by the Australian bushfires over 2019 and 2020.
Brian Lara, Wasim Akram and Courtney Walsh were some of the stars that showcased their abilities in the fun game, and the last ball descended into chaos as Gilchrist’s team were needing five runs to win.
Nick Reiwoldt was batting and could not smash the ball for the six needed to win or the four runs needed to tie the game.
However, his partner Cameron Smith decided to dash for as long as possible to try and get the five runs for the win.
It ended up with one batsman chasing the other as they tried to get as many runs off the last ball.
Gilchrist’s team could only get three runs off the final ball, and they lost the match by a solitary run.

Lara and Symonds shine
It was great seeing Brian Lara and Andrew Symonds shine for their respective teams.
Lara turned the clock back as he made 30 from just 11 balls and had three fours and a couple of sixes before leaving the field retired hurt.
Symonds did his bit for Gilchrist’s team though and the former Aussie all-rounder made 29 from 13 balls and had two sixes with three fours.
Shane Watson also did well for the Gilchrist XI while Ponting made a decent 26 from 14 for his side.
