Punjab’s Siddharth Kaul registered a brilliant hat-trick in his side’s match against Andhra Pradesh in Group A of the Ranji Trophy tournament held in Patiala.

The incident happened during the second delivery of the 40th over of Andhra’s first innings on Day One, when Kaul ended KV Sasikanth’s innings with an unplayable in-swinging delivery that sent the middle-stump flying.

Sasikanth, who had come out to bat at No.9 finished with a score of 20 from 28 deliveries. He was followed by debutants Dasari Swaroop Kumar and S Ashish, who also departed in the same fashion as Sasikanth.

Kaul ended up with brilliant bowling figures of 9.4-4-24-5 and helped his side bundle out the visitors for a mere first innings score of 97 runs.

The Punjabi bowler received a lot of appreciation for his effort and the fans took to Twitter to voice their opinions. Here are a few reactions to the brilliant Siddharth Kaul hat-trick:

Punjab record win

Meanwhile, Anmol Malhotra scored a crucial unbeaten half-century (51 not out) to help Punjab record a four-wicket win over Andhra.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Andhra were restricted to a paltry 97 runs in the first innings, thanks to Kaul’s superb five-wicket haul. In reply, Punjab could not do well, as Shoaib Md Khan and S Ashish wreaked havoc upon the Punjabi batsmen, grabbing five wickets each and dismissing the home side for a paltry 108.

Andhra, who came in to bat their second innings, displayed a little resurgence in the form of skipper Ricky Bhui, who scored a patient 61 off 155 balls. However, this time, Vinay Choudhary excelled for the Punjabis, collecting 6 wickets as Andhra were bowled out for 134 runs.

Chasing a target of 124 runs, Punjab cruised to victory in just the second day of the match, with four wickets still remaining.
