Jon Jones was speaking to Ariel Helwani ahead of his UFC 247 fight against Dominick Reyes
UFC star Jon Jones will be back in action at UFC 247 when he faces the undefeated Dominick Reyes.
Jones’ Light Heavyweight title will be on the line but the 32-year-old has been part of many such fights in the past.
The American has also had some tough times with the law, but he seems to be a more focused fighter these days.
Jones sat down with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani and was asked how he had developed over the past decade or so in the UFC.
The champion claimed he was still developing his game and went on to ask if Jones ever thought he would have this much success in the UFC.
The 32-year-old believed he would be one of the best ever and was looking forward to another decade in the business:
“Deep down inside, I did feel like I would be in the situation I am in now. I am excited to see me 10 years from now.
“I believe I will still be on top of the sport. I’ve always had a very strong conviction that I could be the greatest ever.”
Storm is behind him
Helwani also touched upon some of his transgressions and asked if Jones had grown past that.
The MMA journalist added that Jones was concentrating more on his fighting career, and the champion claimed that the negative aspects are a thing of the past:
“I do feel like the storm is behind me. It’s been an interesting journey, and I am grateful to have had so many lessons to learn.”
Jones finished by saying that he is grateful for all that he has and his best days are still ahead of him.
The American has had a long journey in his MMA career and still seems to have a lot in his tank.
