Faf du Plessis couldn’t stop the home side from losing series 3-1 to visitors England
South Africa captain Faf du Plessis was involved in a heated moment with some England players in the fourth Test match between the two sides on Monday.
Du Plessis was seen shoulder barging England’s Jos Butler at the end of the 57th over and then later getting involved in an argument with pacer Stuart Broad in a match which ultimately ended against his side’s favour.
It was a day to forget for the Proteas skipper as his side lost by 191 runs to the visitors England, who won the 4-match Test series 3-1. Poor batting once again proved fatal for Du Plessis and his boys, who had won the first Test but lost the next two to the Three Lions.
Things went smooth for Joe Root’s England as the South Africans allowed them to garner a total of 400 runs in the first innings.
In reply, South Africa were bowled out for a mere 183 runs. However, England did not enforce the follow-on and posted 248 runs on board in the second innings.
Poor batting once again proved fatal for the South Africans who were left to chase a mammoth total of 466 runs to level the series. Things did not go as exactly planned for the hosts as they clearly fell short of the target managing just 248 runs.

Tough times for Du Plessis
Meanwhile, it has been a testing time for Du Plessis, who has been going through one of the worst phases of his career in the past many months.
The disappointment at last year’s ICC World Cup and then the Test series loss suffered in India and now the loss to England at home proves it has not been the best of times for Du Plessis, who might soon face the ire of the fans.
It is yet to be known as to what had exactly transpired between Du Plessis and the England players, but the South Africa batsman soon departed making just 35 runs off 92 deliveries in the second innings.
