Sourav Ganguly will decide which players will feature in the Asia XI vs World XI
The BCCI joint secretary Jayesh George confirmed that five Indian players will feature in the Asia XI vs World XI series.
The 100th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman takes place next year.
The two T20 matches will be held in March as part of the celebrations. The ICC has also provided full status to the games.
George was speaking over the phone and told the Asian Age:
“Our board has decided to send five players.”
However, the secretary claimed that BCCI president Sourav Ganguly would take a call on who all feature:
“It has been left to the BCCI president (Sourav Ganguly) to decide which five players would go to Bangladesh.”
India has several quality players that can do well. Ganguly might have a tough time selecting which players travel to Bangladesh.
BCB hope for a grand show
An Asia XI vs World XI will be a great chance to see all the best players in cricket during one single game.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizamuddin Chaudhary also spoke about the upcoming clash and hoped that the best players would feature:
“We have requested all Asian countries to send few players and depending upon their players’ availability, the teams would participate.”
The World XI would be selected by the BCB, confirmed Chaudhury, and that the two matches would be held between 18 and 22 March.
The new Motera Stadium in India could also host a similar match later on (h/t Asian Age).
